Continuing the theme of St. Tropez is not over for the season, we’re here to clue you in that it’s actually open all-year-round. Not necessarily for dancing on tables at L’Opéra, but instead as a wellness center. Lily of the Valley, located in the charming town of La Croix-Valmer, may just become your go-to reset spa.
Overview
Philippe Starck has done it again with one of his most recent hotel enterprises. Unlike his projects that are often in the spotlight, this one is on a tranquil Mediterranean beach. That’s as off-the-grid as you can get if the location is St. Tropez. Lily of the Valley is a world away from the scene, hidden in the rolling hills of Cap Lardier. This is the hotel to put on your list when visiting St. Tropez but wanting to experience the tranquil countryside.
The Rooms
Lily of the Valley consists of multiple buildings that offer lovely accommodations, all surrounded by nature. Pick from the options of single rooms to suites to pool suites and even private villas. It’s up to you what kind of experience you want. But rest assured that each option will be immersed in nature — and give you views of the sea.
The Beach Club
The resort is tucked away in pristine hills that function as the green heart of the French Riviera. From this perch you look down on Plage de Gigaro — Lily of the Valley’s private stretch of beach. This is the prime spot for the property’s beach club, of course. And if you’re spending the day tanning and swimming here, you’ll need to eat at some point. When you’re ready, the Beach Club brings you two chic dining options right at the shore.
The Food
Located on the resort’s terrace is a restaurant appropriately named Vista. Run by talented chef Vincent Maillard, he primarily creates dishes featuring Mediterranean cuisine that reflect the culture of St. Tropez. Club House, where comfortable floral sofas enliven the decor, serves more casual meals all day. It’s a great place to drop in for a morning smoothie or sit for an afternoon tea. And don’t forget the two dining options that are worth a walk to the beach. Brigante and Pépé both serve up lavish meals, and you can’t beat the sea views.
Health and Wellness
The Shape Club, a weight-loss offering from Lily of the Valley, is pioneered by nutritionist Dr. Jacques Fricker. Fricker has been developing a method that synthesizes multiple components into one program. You can enjoy fitness excursions, body treatments, nutritional menus, and attention from personal advisors. There are four packages to choose from, according to your commitment level. Discovery is a four-day program, Reboot is seven days, Reset is 14 days, and Reborn is 21 days. Your participation gets you access to the large fitness room and studios as well as a heated olympic-size pool. There are also treatments, consultation rooms for massages and detox practices, a steam room, a sauna, and a snow shower.
Of course, participating in these programs can make you feel just a little better about the food, drink, beach time, and all the other indulgences that St. Tropez has to offer.
