SEEK and You Shall Find
During Covid-19, Amanyara has rolled out Science Explorers and Environmental Keepers (SEEK). SEEK is the resort’s new program in partnership with the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami. This new and innovative educational program for kids promotes fun while learning about the environment and conservation. In its first such collaboration with a resort, Frost Science will launch eight camps at Amanyara in 2021. The program has a flexible daily drop-in atmosphere. Their classes target children (ages 5–10) as well as preteens and teens (ages 11–14). Parents will wish they could sign up as well.
The Programs
SEEK camps will feature hands-on science activities and “out in the environment” guided experiences led by Frost Science educators. There will be three themes. The first is Coastal Conservation, with activities like kayaking or hiking through the mangroves. Your kids may build a coastline model, complete a mangrove nursery scavenger hunt, and conduct a microscopic look at sand and plants. Reef Rescue includes snorkeling or kayaking, and building a coral reef. Your kids may also develop a unique “Save the Reef” campaign that celebrates biodiversity.
The Sun, Moon and Stars
The Sun, Moon and Stars activities that include nighttime stargazing, constellation mapping, spectroscopy, and moon model creation. As you would expect from Amanyara, it goes above and beyond your usual kids’ club-type resort programs. Kids will love that they get keepsakes from their enrichment experiences, like a tote bag and reusable water bottle. Parents will love that they also receive complimentary tickets to visit Frost Science in Miami.
