Strawberry Ice Cream

Strawberry Ice Cream

As a parent, you may find yourself short on time for cooking. But do not worry; here’s a simple and delicious recipe for homemade ice cream that your children (and you) will love. If you are not a fan of strawberries, feel free to substitute with blueberries or raspberries. Follow the simple steps below to make Strawberry Ice Cream.

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

1-pint strawberries, stems removed
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups half and half

Directions

In a food processor, purée half of the strawberries. Add sugar and cream. Pulse until smooth. Add lemon juice. Transfer the mixture to an 8 x 8 glass baking dish. Chop the other half of the strawberries and sprinkle evenly on top of the mixture. Place in the freezer for at least 5 hours and serve.

Cooking Class: Cavallo Point

Our favorite spot for hands-on cooking classes in the Bay area is Cavallo Point, which offers an ever-changing roster of chef instructors and focuses on various cuisines. We admire their commitment to seasonal and sustainable foods and love their “Cooking From the Farmers’ Market” series. Classes range in price from $55 to $145, depending on the menu, but they often sell out, so be sure to reserve a spot ahead of time.
