Restaurants in Mallorca: Beach Club Gran Folies

Choosing a Mediterranean island for your luxury vacation isn’t as easy as it seems. We’re all so focused on finding a destination with sunny weather, gorgeous and quiet beaches, and a chic vibe, that we tend to forget all about the food. But having delicious dining options should absolutely be a priority – you can’t live on sunshine and turquoise water alone. If you want the whole package, head over to Mallorca. The largest of the Balearic islands has a wealth of extraordinary restaurants, including six Michelin-starred venues. We selected the four restaurants you should visit on Mallorca if you want a well-rounded tour of the island’s culinary offerings.

El Olivo

Address: Carrer son Canals, 07179 Deià, Illes Balears, Spain

Unsurprisingly, one of the best restaurants in Mallorca is located in one of its best hotels. El Olivo is one of three dining venues at La Residencia, a Belmond hotel located in Deià, a small village in the northwest of the island. Occupying a 17th-century olive oil mill, El Olivo offers two eight-course tasting menus (one omnivore and one vegetarian) that focus on Mediterranean cuisine. When the weather cooperates (which is most of the time in this part of the world), diners can sit on the elevated stone terrace under the shade of the olive trees and enjoy the stunning views. At night, flickering candles add a touch of romance to the experience. It’s the perfect spot to bring a date and an even better one for a proposal — but any occasion will do. Make a reservation in advance to secure a spot – this place is popular.

Ca’s Patró March

Address: Carrer Sa Cala, 16, 07179 Deià, Illes Balears, Spain

Despite the fact that getting to this restaurant requires driving on some narrow, winding roads, it’s very popular – and for good reason. Perched on the side of a cliff right on the sea, Ca’s Patró March is arguably the most picturesque dining venue in all of Mallorca. And if you like seafood with your sea views, then you’re in the right place. Lobster, seabass, grouper – it’s all on the menu. The service is on the slow side, but there’s no hurry – you’re on vacation after all. Make a reservation in advance and leave earlier than the GPS indicates to get there – this restaurant is hard to find.

Gran Folies

Address: Carrer Tintorera, s/n, 07157 Port d’Andratx, Illes Balears, Spain

Gran Folies is a luxury beach club. That means that you can combine your meal with great views with a sunbathing session or a swim. The restaurant serves both Mediterranean and international cuisine with a focus on seafood and meats. And for those who like a bit of caviar with a glass of Dom Perignon Rose, that’s available too – even if you’re lazying by the pool instead of sitting at the restaurant. There are plenty of loungers and cabanas for you to relax the day away, before or after your meal. If you prefer wild swimming and the feel of sand in between your toes, the club also has direct access to the beach.

De Tokio A Lima

Addresses:

  • Carrer de Sant Feliu, 1, Centre, 07012 Palma, Illes Balears, Spain
  • Carretera Vieja de Valldemossa, S/N, 07170 Valldemossa, Balearic Islands, Spain

In case the name of this Mallorcan restaurant did not make it clear enough, take note: De Tokio A Lima serves dishes of fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients that blend Mediterranean, Peruvian, and Japanese culinary traditions. The focus is on seafood (mussels, ceviche, octopus, caviar, tuna tartar, etc.), but meat lovers and vegetarians aren’t left out. If Champagne is your drink of choice, opt for the Veuve Clicquot special menu that pairs Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label and Veuve Clicquot Rosé with some excellent dishes and desserts. There are two De Tokio A Lima restaurants in Mallorca, one in Palma (the capital), and one in Valledemossa — and both offer beautiful outdoor settings.
