Celebs at The Saxon

The Saxon - The Gateway to Africa
January 6, 2016

The celebs:  Oprah, Bill Clinton, Bono and Rihanna

The place:  Johannesburg, South Africa

The hotel: The Saxon

Where the late President and Nobel Prize Winner Nelson Mandela completed his autobiography, The Long Walk to Freedom, The Saxon is and always will be the historic and iconic place to stay in South Africa.  Among the mansions in the upscale Sandton neighborhood, its location in Johannesburg, which is the international airport hub and the financial center of the country, has made The Saxon a firm stop for CEOs, dignitaries and philanthropic luminaries.  The place to stay is in the Executive Villas, tucked away with its own entrance separate from the upscale riffraff in the main hotel.  If only these walls could talk; the ivory grand piano in the private Villa lounge has prompted sing-alongs with everyone from Bono, Bill Clinton and Rihanna.
