YOUR INSPIRATION TO EXPLORE THE WORLD

Best Hotels In The U.S.

Sometimes we just don’t know how good we have it. And if there’s grass even greener with over 140 countries under our belt, we haven’t found those pastures yet. Because even if you buy yourself a passport in Montenegro, you’ll never be considered a Montenegrin. But when you take that oath of citizenship in the U.S., you’re proudly one of us. There’s no other place in the world where immigrants who pass the green card gauntlet, at least for now, are welcomed to proudly say they’re American. It’s what has made our country so damned special. So, in honor of our Independence Day, these are the top hotels in the USA. Happy Birthday America.

The Hotel: Amangiri

Location: Canyon Point, Utah

Overview

We are going to start with the Hall of Fame, of what may just be the best hotel in the United states. Amangiri is legend, and there’s a reason why you can name more celebs who have not been there, then the celebs who come to Amangiri everyday. Set within the gorgeous desert and majestic mesas of Utah, Amangiri does luxury right. The minimalist design blends right into the scenery which creates a Zen experience from the moment you arrive. The architecture and respect for the environment is one of the many aspects that makes Amangiri special.  The main hotel’s pool of Amangiri is set around rock formations that are over a billion years old. The understated luxury suites also have lap pools and sky terraces for unbeatable views of Utah canyons and mesas. And don’t get us started on the famed Amangiri pancake. You can check out our full review of Amangiri here.

Hotel: The Peninsula Chicago

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Peninsula chicagoOverview

Where Amangiri is the best hotel in the U.S., The Peninsula Chicago may be the best city hotel in the U.S. When you think of a classic five-star hotel with impeccable service, beautiful rooms and grand hotel facilities, you have yourself The Peninsula Chicago. Traditional Asian hospitality came to Chicago over twenty years ago, and it still reigns as the best hotel in town. Everything from the housekeeping to the lavish top floor spa and pool are exquisitely done. Food is another highlight a gourmet Chinese restaurant at 1930s-inspired Shanghai Terrace and The Lobby, where you can have afternoon tea in what looks like a wedding hall. Drinks are just as important, and The Peninsula Chicago delivers rare small-batch bitters served over the iconic Michigan Avenue right below your terrace seat.

The Hotel: Post Ranch Inn

Location: Big Sur, California

post ranch innOverview

Post Ranch Inn is the ultimate hotel for a romantic getaway, set on a stunning bluff above the Pacific Ocean. Part of the beauty of Post Ranch Inn is its integration into nature, and the connection that it inspires with whomever you are with. We mean that literally with decor taking influence from its surroundings. You won’t find TVs or alarm clocks here, but that’s part of the allure. Instead, you’ll be busy eating atop Big Sur in Sierra Mar. The chefs have Michelin Star backgrounds, and the 3200 wine selection is award-winning.

The Hotel: Blackberry Farm

Location: Tennessee

Overview

Blackberry Farm, a Relais & Châteaux resort, is like fairytale living, but not in the same way as Post Ranch Inn. While Post Ranch has you suspended over dramatic cliff sides, Blackberry Farm has southern charm. Let’s paint the picture: first is The Barn, a James Beard Award-winning restaurant featuring Appalachian ingredients and 300 brandies and whiskies, some exclusive. Then there’s the Main House Dining Room offering all the fixings like Griddle Cakes and Buttermilk Biscuits & Gravy. The rooms are country-house style with wood-burning fireplaces and flowery wallpaper. To add to your smokey mountain daydream, you can use the sports club’s shooting range, paintball, clay courses, and archery equipment. You’ll likely come across sheep roaming the pastures, too.

The Hotel: Sheldon Chalet

Location: Alaska

Sheldon ChaletOverview

Sheldon Chalet is a once-in-a-lifetime trip set 5,800 high on a nunatak attached to a glacier. The settings height, once an obstacle to non-climbers, is now accessible to your least athletic friend, with plane rides offered straight to the chalet. This experience is more intimate, with five bedrooms for groups of up to ten. Now is the time to make your plans to catch the midnight sun and, with its rising temperatures, avalanche viewings. And don’t panic if glacier climbing is not on your list of expertise; “glacier school” and a guide’s assessment will keep you entertained and safe.

The Hotel: The Lodge at Blue Sky

Location: Utah

Overview

Cliffside to Alexander Creek, The Lodge at Blue Sky is all about restoration. They have less conventional treatment methods like breathwork, aerial yoga from silk secured to forest trees, sound baths, and numerology readings. Accordingly, Edge Spa allows you to realign your chakras in the comfort of a luxurious stay. Earth suites are decked in limestone, and living grass roofs are another Instagramable feature. Every detail sings the natural area’s praises; even the food takes inspiration from the many cultures that lived on the land, like Yuta, named by the Ute Indians. If you’re looking for the right balance between spiritual healing and luxury, a complimentary meditative Mercedes ride along the mountains might be the answer.
