Amanda Seyfried

She’s not the type to ever dial it in, and it seems that Amanda really is good at everything. After all, the girl plays the Appalachian dulcimer, which yes, you should look up. So when it comes to places she loves, she’s all in. From a working farm near Woodstock, New York to obscure coastal villages in Greece, these spots make Amanda Seyfried’s list.

Upstate New York

Both in distance and in lifestyle, Hudson Valley in upstate New York is a long way from Hollywood. Here, in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains near Woodstock, Amanda Seyfried and her family live the country life on a working farm in Ulster County. Remembered for the 1969 festival that bears its name, Woodstock is the region’s rural hub and Overlook Mountain is a great place for panoramic views.

Seyfried is known to be a lifelong fan of travel by train. As such, the scenic route by rail along the Hudson River is her preferred way to get in and out of New York City.

Where to stay:

The 140-acre Wildflower Farms by Auberge Resorts Collection in Gardiner, New York is a 2023 addition to the brand. Striking a balance between minimalism and coziness, 65 cottages complement the main building with a restaurant, bar, shop, pool, and spa.

New York City

For her regular New York City trips, Seyfried’s home is a kid-friendly Upper West Side pied-à-terre. In light of the news about Seyfried’s next movie role, the Manhattan apartment may be put to more frequent use. In mid-April 2026, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda announced the star-studded cast of his new production, Octet, will feature Amanda Seyfried.

Aman New York

Where to stay:

In an ideal location, Aman New York at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street is the most exclusive of the city’s luxury hotels, which also provides guests with access to the private Aman Club.

Skopelos, Greece

Without question, the Mamma Mia! actor has a soft spot for Skopelos, one of the main locations for filming the 2008 feel-good movie. Off the eastern coast of Greece, its greenery is surrounded by the brilliant blue Aegean Sea. Neighboring islands of Skiathos and Damouchari also appear in the movie’s shots of beaches, coves, streets, and churches.

Amanzoe, Greece

Where to stay:

Amanzoe is part of the Aman brand known for its exceptionally high standards. On the eastern coast of Peloponnese Peninsula, this is one of the best resorts in Greece.

Vis, Croatia

Ten years later, the film’s sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again shows off Vis island in Croatia’s glittering Adriatic Sea. Certainly worth the effort to get there, this isn’t a place one might stumble across. To be sure, the stunning scenery in the movie doesn’t lie. There’s a crystal clear sea, beautiful beaches, wonderful weather. And perhaps because Vis is more distant from Croatia’s mainland than other islands, the destination avoids over tourism.

Incidentally, we’re curious about what’s next for the ABBA story on film. If and when Mamma Mia 3 comes along, that filming location is anyone’s guess. However, a remote island somewhere in the Mediterranean is likely to be a safe bet.

Maslina Resort, Hvar, Croatia

Where to stay:

Heading for Hvar? Maslina Resort delivers the sun-drenched delights of Croatia’s Dalmatian coast.

Venice, Italy

When filming the romantic drama, Letters to Juliet, Seyfried and crew were in the enchanting Italian cities of Verona and Siena. Years later, her connections to Italy endure. In September 2025, she appeared at the 82nd Venice Film Festival for the premiere of The Testament of Ann Lee.

Where to stay:

While in Venice, Seyfried stayed at Hotel Excelsior, an historic belle epoque beach resort on the Lido di Venezia. Fifteen minutes from Piazza San Marco, the hotel’s gleaming teak motorboats operate a complimentary shuttle for guests every half hour.
