Heading towards the east during Memorial Day brings a special delight as we eagerly open up our homes for the summer, throw parties, and fully embrace the entire season that lies ahead. It’s a time when indulging in outdoor dining and being accompanied by music become significant, and there’s an undeniable wave of nostalgia associated with the firsts of the year: that initial trip to a charming roadside farm stand, savoring the very first delectable bite at the renowned Nick & Toni’s, and even enduring the familiar moments of traffic along the bustling Sunrise Highway. In order to enhance this already wonderful Hamptons-style experience, we have prepared a delectable recipe for a Lobster Roll. This dish is guaranteed to amplify its incredible flavors after a day well-spent basking in the warm sunshine and enjoying the refreshing coastal waters. Here is how to prepare it.
Lobster Roll Recipe
Nothing says summer by the ocean like a lobster roll and a glass of sparkling wine. This version is light on the mayo, but a buttered bun is still an absolute must.
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2/3 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 cup celery, diced small
1/2 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
1 tablespoon chives, minced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
1 tablespoon tarragon, minced
4 hot dog buns
1 lb. cooked lobster meat (meat should shine), cut into 1-inch pieces
Directions
Add mayonnaise, mustard, lemon, salt, and pepper to a bowl. Mix well. Then, add celery, chives, and tarragon and mix. After that, add lobster and gently toss all ingredients together. Taste and adjust seasoning.
Slather the outsides of hot dog buns with butter. Heat a nonstick pan on medium and cook each bun for about two minutes per side until light golden brown.
Spoon lobster meat into hot dog buns and serve.
