This is a new one: a liquor brand that’s not celebrity-backed. Yes, you read that right. There’s no Brad Pitt or Ryan Reynolds here. Instead, Silent Pool Black Juniper Gin is resting on, well, good gin. So, what’s so special about the $360 that Silent Pool will set you back? Well, the juniper comes from the Kingdom of Bhutan. Yeah, we were intrigued too.
Summer brunches on June afternoons are incomplete without gin cocktails. And when you’re the host, you’ll only serve the best that’s out there. The Silent Pool Black Juniper Gin is the one occupying that spot these days.
The makers take luxury a notch higher by sourcing their fruit from the highlands of Bhutan. Only the best fruit-pickers are employed to pick junipers from their 4000ft high mountain homes. The bottle comes in a beautiful midnight blue color with a copper base and top. You can also get the bottle personalized with names engraved on the base.
Silent Pool Black Juniper Gin Recipes
Once you have your bottle, you will need a couple of gin cocktail recipes. After all, not every occasion can be settled by a Tom Collins. Here are a few that would be a great serving on summer brunches.
Berry and Rosemary Juniper Gin Fizz
Ingredients
2 oz Silent Pool Black Juniper Gin
1/2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 oz rosemary-infused simple syrup*
Handful of mixed berries (such as raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries)
Soda water
Ice cubes
Fresh rosemary sprigs and additional berries for garnish
*For the simple syrup: combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan. Add a few sprigs of fresh rosemary, bring to a simmer. Let cool and strain.
Directions
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the mixed berries to release their juices and flavors. Add gin, lemon juice, and rosemary-infused simple syrup to the shaker. Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to chill the mixture. Strain the cocktail into a tall glass filled with ice cubes. Top up the glass with soda water leaving some space for the garnish. Give the drink a gentle stir to mix everything together. Garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary and a few additional berries. Serve fresh.
