If you think the Pendry hotels came out of nowhere, they kind of did. Considered the more casual sister of the Montage portfolio, the Pendry has popped up all over the country. And now there’s one in the Nation’s capital. Here are the broad strokes of the new Pendry Washington DC, and why it wants to be on your list.
Overview
You know the Montage, for its luxury hotels from Beverly Hils to Utah, and Palmetto Bluff. The Montage hotels are synonymous with classic luxury experience. It makes sense that they would create a younger, cooler version, for the modern city experience. So, enter in the Pendry, recently opened in our Nation’s capital. The Pendry Washington DC is a waterfront hotel located on DC’s Wharf, and it wants to be one of the capital’s power players. Set on the Potomac River, the hotel has 131 rooms and suites, the Spa Pendry, as well as three dining and bar experiences for power breakfasts, lunch, dinners and drinks.
Rooms
As a totally brand new hotel, the rooms at the Pendry are some of the nicest in D.C., though the rates are a little gentler than comparable luxury hotels. The hotel’s location on the water also provide it with some of the top views in D.C. The palate is serene, and decor is clean and contemporary which also makes it stand out amongst the places to stay in Washington D.C. The corner suites have curved windows that give you prime views of Potomac River.
Food + Drink
Like the melting pot that D.C. is, the Pendry Washington D.C. offers an international selection of cuisine. Moonraker is a rooftop restaurant and bar that serves a Japanese-inspired menu. The bites are light; think maki rolls, a select sushi menu and the crowd-pleasing salmon and tuna crispy rice sushi. The food is complemented by a selection of Japanese whisky and specialty cocktails, as well as the killer views of D.C.
Moving along the United Nations of restaurants, Flora Flora offers cuisine from Latin America and Mexico. Flora Flora is the all-day option, where you can work over small plates of guacamole, ceviche and seafood pazole. Flora Flora notably has creative options as for those who are on plant-based diets. Of course, you don’t need to be on a plant-based diet to enjoy the vegan queso fundido. And no, plant based doesn’t mean that you’re going to miss out on the meat.
Bar Pendry is the last but not the least of the dining experiences at Pendry. It’s a classic hotel bar with a modern makeover, and bartenders who know what they’re doing. They serve up classic cocktails like the Manhattan and Sazerac. Because this is a late night spot, bar bites are a necessity. Caviar deviled eggs, lobster corn dogs and burgers will hit the spot.
Spa + Wellness
The Spa Pendry has five private treatment rooms, a couple’s room, steam rooms, and lounge. Their treatments go beyond surface level, with hydra facials and Gua Sha techniques, that are like a face lift. For treatments more than 60 minutes, you get access to the gym, pool and facilities. Equipped with the best, world-class equipment, the Fitness Center has Peloton bikes and Tonal training equipment.
