It’s a little counter-intuitive that the Dorchester, known for the most classic luxury hotels in the world, didn’t have a foothold in the Middle East. That is, until now. The Hotel Eden and the Plaza Athenee have a new sister who is making her mark on Dubai. The Lana opens next month and will join the ranks of luxury hotels in the luxury capital of the world.
The Dorchester Collection
Let’s talk about the Lana’s familial roots. The Dorchester Collection has nine hotels, with two new locations joining the mix. First, The Lana in Dubai, which will bookings as soon as February. Secondly a Tokyo location is set for its debut in 2028. The collection has royal origins, owned by the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei. Accordingly, The Dorchester’s vibe is regal elegance that blends in with the destination. The hotels span the globe in the best destinations, including London, Paris, Milan, Rome, Los Angeles, and Ascot.
The Lana in Dubai
The Dorchester Collection’s regal roots can only mean one thing: The Lana in Dubai will be nothing short of classic grandeur. Made up of conjoined glass towers overlooking the Marasi Bay and bustling streets of the downtown area, the Lana will have 225 rooms. This will be a new type of project for The Dorchester, as they typically take iconic buildings or long-established hotels and elevate them to hotel standards. The Lana is a new build, new rooms and new history to make. The Lana alludes to Dorchester’s traditional luxury combined with a Dubai influence of a light, airy, modern feel. What’s unique also about the Dorchester is that while the hotels are the epitome of luxury, they are effortlessly all class. Some suites include 180 degree views and double height options. We’re willing to bet that a few of those will be fit for a Sultan and his family.
Come, Eat & Chill
Spanish chef, Martin Berasategui will helm the kitchen at The Lana with the opening new restaurant Jara. Also in the works is a secret garden and a hidden cigar lounge playing your vinyl favorites. In Dubai spa time is considered a cultural activity. So The Lana will have an expansive infinity pool, lux spa and gym. There aren’t many details beyond the basics as The Dorchester has kept a lot under wraps. But if their existing hotels are any indication, The Lana in Dubai will be a top luxury hotel.
