A New Hotel in St. Barths: The Tropical

What if you could stay at Nikki Beach in St. Barths? Well, that’s not exactly the case in this scenario, but it’s as close as it gets. The Tropical recently opened as a boutique luxury hotel, with just 24 rooms. The owners of famed Bonito dropped a pretty $20 million to create a chic enclave in the heart of the isle. Here’s the preview of this new hotel in St. Barths.

The Tropical + Nikki Beach, Sitting in a Tree

St. Barths has a new luxury hotel in town, and it’s within a stone’s throw from Nikki Beach.  The Tropical is the passion project of the owners of the popular Bonito Restaurant, a long-time St. Barths staple. Owner Laurent Cantineaux is a Parisian chef by original trade, who over decades at Bonito has mastered the art of food and ambience.

Now, Catineaux  and his partner bring their restaurant hospitality expertise to the hotel game. The first look is the Tropical has an island vibe that’s true to its name, chic yet in the DNA of the hotel.  This new hotel in St. Barths is an oasis of Bohemian serene, but right in the middle of all the action.

The Overview

The Tropical is a boutique gem with 24 individually decorated rooms. The theme is vintage St. Tropez postcard chic, with pastel colors that match the unique retro-inspired furniture. It’s important to note that this new hotel in St. Barths is not on the beach.  Instead, the Tropical’s beach access is the famed Nikki Beach.  It does however have a private swimming pool to soak in the views for a moment of Zen.

Food + Beverage by Bonito

Expectations are high for the food and beverage, with Bonito as its pedigree.  The Tropical has a chic bar for cocktails with friends and The Patio, a restaurant that serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.  Initial reports are that the service is strong, right out of the gates.

The Price for Paradise

The cost for paradise of this new hotel in St. Barths is surprisingly reasonable, especially compared to other luxury hotels on isle. The price point for the Tropical looks to be as attractive as its retro décor. The price per night for a Standard double room starts from 860 USD dollars. But if you’re looking for the most luxurious experience with sea views, you’re looking at 1,920 USD dollars.
