Your New Skin Care Regime

Normally today when we think of face masks, it’s the required face coverings for those who are intelligent and doing their part in this pandemic world to stop the spread of the virus.  You have a new mask though, and that’s the face mask to combat the unintended consequences of breakouts, affectionately known as “maskne”.

As the world starts embracing the use of face coverings, some may also be experiencing its undesirable counterpart: “maskne.” Dr. Anjali Mahto, consultant dermatologist and author of The Skincare Bible, agrees that wearing masks can lead to an accumulation of sweat, which in turn, can lead to blocked pores. The good news? We have several options for facial masks that are a go-to after a long day of playing masquerade.

1.         Natura Bissé: Stabilizing Cleansing Mask

One of our favorite go-to brands in the luxury skincare market, Natura Bissé’s Stabilizing Cleansing Mask is all the rave. This mask does it all: helps with breakouts, exfoliates, and moisturizes while leaving your skin looking shiny and new. Hall of Fame makeup artist Nam Vo uses it as part of her skincare routine, saying, “It’s the one product I’ve used for 10 years, and it’s like a facelift.”

2.        Tata Harper: Resurfacing Mask

This mask is the poster product for gentle, yet effective. What sets this mask apart from others is its exfoliating ingredients that lift and remove surface dead skin cells, like an at-home dermabrasion treatment in an all-natural formula. We’ve heard miracles about this product from skincare bloggers and beauty editors, and rumor has it that this product literally works overnight.

3.        Patchology: Illuminate Sheet Mask

Let’s be real, we all don’t have time to come home, put on a face mask, and wait for it to work its magic. That’s why Patchology has created this FlashMasque, which works with just a five-minute application to illuminate and even out your skin tone. For something that only takes five minutes out of your day and barely anything out of your pocket, I think this might be everyone’s on-the-go essential.

4.        Renée Rouleau: Rapid Response Detox Masque

One of the best in the game for acne-prone skin is Renée Rouleau’s award-winning acne treatment Detox Masque. Also called “Golden Glow” because of its bright-yellow hue, this mask takes on irritated, pimple-ridden skin and fights off future breakouts. The best part? Right now you can find this miracle product available in a one-ounce size for just $30.

5.        Peter Thomas Roth: Irish Moor Mud Mask

If you’re looking to clean out your pores and refine your skin, this mask is tailored to you. Using its magic skin-purging ingredient — charcoal — this mask makes your skin feel refreshed after one use without drying (compared to other clay or charcoal masks). Harvested from the Irish countryside, the 9,000-year-old black moor mud is the trick to giving your skin its natural, radiant glow. This is a must-try, and you only need to use it one to two times per week to see a difference.
