I feel lucky that I’m at a stage where I’ve been to Paris more times than I can count. So nowadays, when I arrive into Paris, I don’t feel the need to hit the ground running. Instead, I opt out of reserving the room the night before, and opt into a spa appointment, shortly after I land. In my consumer opinion, it’s only fiscally responsible not to pay for a room just to check in early and instead, allocate those funds to the spa. And the spa that is my go-to, whether or not I’m staying at the hotel, is the Dior Spa at Cheval Blanc. It’s not just for a superficial beauty treatment either; there’s more than meets the beautiful eye at Cheval Blanc’s spa.

An Iconic Hotel

I first stayed at Cheval Blanc in 2021 and I’m still not over it. Cheval Blanc Paris is what hotel legends are made of, even though it’s only been open for about five years. If you count the history of the building, which is the original Samaritane department store, you can add on a few decades. But Cheval Blanc is a brand-new build, in lieu of a refurbished hotel, that has layers and decades of paint on the walls.

Rooms Too Nice for a City Hotel

The whole hotel is a mix of creams that lull you into calm, and Cheval is easily one of the top hotels in Paris. Where Paris is known to have rooms on the smaller side, all of Cheval Blanc’s rooms are ample for two, with large dressing rooms and immaculate cream bathrooms. You could say that a place that has custom refrigerators for your beauty products in your bathroom is legit. This also gives you a window into how seriously they take their beauty and wellness at Cheval Blanc’s spa. But what you may not know is that the spa is serious about internal well-being and physical transformation too. Cheval Blanc’s spa is my go-to, because it resets my entire system, so I feel my best during the trip.

Overview

Set on the lower level complex with the fitness center and pool, Cheval Blanc’s spa is about understated yet clear luxury. You reach the spa via a curved spiral staircase, wrapped in woven metal, by textile artist Sophie Mallebranche. The descent alone tells you what kind of afternoon you’re in for. There are only six treatment rooms, but every corner of the spa is done to perfection. If you’re looking for a large, buzzy and busy spa, Cheval Blanc’s spa isn’t for you. However, if you’re looking for privacy, serenity and some of the top aestheticians in Paris, this is your spot.

In lieu of a large locked room, more of the space is allocated to the six treatment suites. Each has its own white onyx changing room and shower. The rooms are designed around a different facet of the House of Dior. For example, one even projects a personal horoscope onto the ceiling. It’s classic Peter Marino, who designed the hotel. Prior to treatments, there’s an area with a cold plunge pool, steam room and sauna. One of my favorite aspects of the spa (as I’m a fan of cryo) is the ice shower that is part of the circuit.

The Pool

If there’s one image that sums up this spa, it’s the pool. Cheval has a signature use of holograms throughout the hotel, and this is where it shines the most. The pool is thirty meters long and curved along the building’s original architectural lines. It’s tiled in handcrafted blue mosaics by Michael Mayer, and sits at the same level as the Seine itself. The pool alone reportedly took two years to build. It’s less a hotel amenity and more a genuine architectural feat, with the kind of light and proportion that makes you want to linger. I normally come to the spa straight from the airport, so it’s also where I pass out before my treatment.

The Treatments

This is where Dior Spa Cheval Blanc separates itself from a merely beautiful room. The Beauty Ambassadors here aren’t generalist estheticians running through a standard hotel-spa menu. Instead, they’re trained in Dior techniques exclusive to Cheval Blanc’s spa. Signature treatments include sapphire crystal micro-abrasion paired with photostimulation. The tissue massage is designed to work the whole body, rather than just relax it. There are also the signature Dior Face Baths. The treatment water itself is infused with actives grown in Dior’s own gardens. Until Cheval, I didn’t even realize the scents of Yquem vine sap, rose, iris, hibiscus, and mauve could exist in this format.

Forty-eight treatments in total rotate with seasonal menus tied to Dior runway shows. Therefore, no two visits necessarily look alike. These go well beyond a standard facial. The results are visible, but the expertise behind them is what actually earns the props. This is a team that clearly trains to a Dior standard, not a generic spa-menu one.

An Essential Stop for The New Look Silhouette Treatment

Let me level set that Cheval Blanc’s spa isn’t a medical wellness center or a place that’s going to starve you on broth for the week. Instead, the Dior Spa at Cheval Blanc is where wellness is less about a bull in a China shop and more about an elegant and subtle approach. Of all the spas in Paris, this is where they understand the importance of the lymphatic system. I retain water on a skinny day so when I land after an eight hour flight, I’m like a water balloon. Regular massages don’t do it for me, so if I want to look and feel my best, a proper sculpting and lymphatic massage is in order. My path to this is the New Look Silhouette Look, which is exactly what I get. Laetitia is my magical aesthetician, who gently kneads me back into shape. If you extend beyond the regular 60 minutes, she also works miracles on my face. I feel lighter after a session with her, and only wish she was closer to my New York home.

The Boutique

Before or after your treatment, the on-site Dior boutique is worth building time for on its own. Styled like a cozy Parisian living room, it carries the full Dior skincare and fragrance lines. There are also Dior Maison pieces and Couture accessories. I was very tempted to spend 570 euro on a ribbon for my hair, which I’m still thinking about. There are also nice scarves and a legit selection of jewelry that can make it into your cart. It’s like kicking off your shopping in Paris right, sans the lines of the Dior stores around town.
