Spanish Diner
Good for:
Spanish Diner is good for breakfast and lunch during the week. It’s currently one of the only spots open for breakfast right now in the complex and it’s a civilized place that most people have not caught on to yet for easy work meetings. The weekends in the new Hudson Yards are absolute chaos so we suggest steering clear. But, either way, this is a solid option.
Atmosphere:
An assuming fun, lively diner, where you get elevated breakfast and lunch fare, by one of the great Spanish chefs.
Why we like it:
Two words: Jose Andres. Really, this guy has to be one of the most philanthropic and giving individuals in the world. It seems like with any humanitarian crisis or need, from Venezuela to Puerto Rico, Mozambique to Nebraska and anywhere in between, through his World Central Kitchen Jose steps in to provide much-needed meals. So sign us up for anything this exceptional individual is part of. Not to mention that he can cook. From the casual fare which is Spanish Diner to elevated gourmet cuisine, Chef Andres just brings it in the kitchen.
What to order:
We loved the egg dishes – the classic tortilla espagnol, fried eggs over French fries, the selection of jamons from Spain, and the pan con tomate (which we can’t seem to replicate at home even though the ingredients are so simple). The cauliflower in bechemal sauce, albeit a diet-breaker, is worth it.
