Shirley Temples are pretty to look at and fun to drink, but packed with a ton of sugar and chemicals. This drink has the same color and takes only seconds to make.

To encourage kids to drink water, skip the seltzer, and freeze the rest in an ice-cube tray, then add a few cubes at a time for flavor.

Yield: 2 servings.

Add watermelon to a food processor and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pushing a ladle over watermelon to extract as much of juice as possible. Add lime juice, syrup, seltzer, and stir. Serve with ice, if desired.
