There’s another new hotel in Greece, which is making yet another case for skipping the islands this summer. And it’s also part of the One&Only group, so we’re guessing there won’t be much arm-twisting involved to go there. This is a first look at the One&Only Aesthesis, a new hotel on the Athenian Riviera.
Overview
After you’ve been to Greece year in, year out, Athens became your brief stopover city, instead of a destination for your summer vacay. Yes, Athens is a culturally historical and significant city, but there weren’t a lot of reasons to see the Acropolis for the ump-teenth time. So on your way, you went to Mykonos, Santorini or Crete. Well, there is officially a reason to revisit Athens this summer, and actually never leave the mainland.
The One&Only opened their property Aesthesis last year, which is a year-round resort on the Athenian Riviera. You might say that the resort is the best of all worlds. You’re within 30 minutes from both the Athens center and the airport, but yet you’re right on the beach. Also, unlike hotels in the heart of town, the One&Only Aesthesis is a full-service resort. There’s a Guerlain spa, several bars and restaurants, and even a Manko a la Paris, which is opening this spring. So even though you’re on the mainland, they’re bringing a bit of the Mykonos vibe to you, without you having to take a flight to the isles.
Room & Board
As for the accommodations, One&Only Aesthesis wants to become not just a stopover hotel in Athens, but rather a place you post up for a while. The room vibe is serene, restful and tranquil, with natural palettes. As you tier up from the basic rooms, the bungalows have their own private pools and gardens. There are even fireplaces, because Aesthesis is looking to be a year-round destination.
