Summer trips are the gateway drug to serious travel year-round. And what better excuse to spring for a mid-year escape than luxury hotel openings around the globe? These are new hotels kicking off later this year — all worthy of a visit. So get ready to book that trip to England, France, and places much further afield.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair

Where: Mayfair London

Opening Date: This Winter

The Mandarin Oriental is opening its second location in London this year, joining its Hyde Park sibling. The Mayfair location will overlook Hanover square. The property has 50 rooms and suites and 78 private residences. The rooms, designed by Studio Indigo, will feature pieces from British artists. The boutique hotel will also be home to the first Akira Back restaurant in London. The Michelin star chef  already has over 20 over restaurants worldwide, including in hot locations like Dubai, Seoul, and Beverly Hills. The new Mandarin Oriental’s spa also promises to be a treat, thank to its 82-foot indoor pool.

100 Princes Street, Edinburgh

Where: Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Opening Date: November 2022

100 Princes street was once the address of the Overseas League, a club frequented by Scottish explorers. The Red Carnation Hotel Collection is using this history as inspiration for the restoration and opening of a property now called, simply, 100 Princes Street. The refurbishment is headed by Toni Tollman, Philippe Bonino, and Brian Brennan, the trio that’s behind the sweet new look of the Ashford Castle Hotel in Ireland. At 100 Princess Street, the view of Edinburgh Castle is up-class for sure, and the collection of high-end wines and Scottish whiskeys promise to add to the Edinburgh experience.

Sensei Porcupine Creek

Where: Palm Springs

Opening Date: November 1st , 2022

Palm Springs has been traditionally without luxury hotels, but with Larry Ellison attached and Nobu doing the food, Sensei Porcupine Creek is sure to fill that need. This is only the Sensei brand’s second property (its first is the acclaimed Sensei Lāna’i in Hawaii). Staying true to Sensei’s focus on wellness, the converted Rancho Mirage estate is set to become an intensive spa retreat. Some of the treatments available are the Discover Sensei Experience, Guided Wellness Experience, Optimal Wellbeing Program, and the Sensei Sabbatical Experience (more about those here). Up to 30 days of personalized spa therapy sounds good to us! Every package includes the advice of Sensei Guides who will create personalized itineraries. The estate will have 22 rooms and eight standalone villas.
