YOUR INSPIRATION TO EXPLORE THE WORLD

Three Nights in London

Christine Drinan, Founder

London Calling-feature

What can we say? It’s a Euro summer, in case you didn’t get the memo. Whether you’re trying to put together a work trip, manage the cost of flights with a city stopover, or just want to have a proper afternoon tea, London is always a good idea. And we have one of the best hotels in London — that in turn has the hottest private club in town. You. Three nights. London’s calling.

London is the Summer and Fall Hotspot

You know, London is the perfect stopover on the way to (or back from) Ibiza, Mykonos and St. Tropez. That must be why famous people from Jeff Bezos to Tom  Cruise were recently spotted out and about in the English capital. And we have to say, London has never been better. Flowers decorate quaint row houses, the dollar exchange is around 1.1, and a new private hotel club, the Twenty Two, could become your new favorite place to stay. In a very competitive city, the Twenty Two has quickly established itself as one of the best hotels in London.

Laid-Back Exclusivity in Mayfair

The Twenty Two recently opened in the heart of Mayfair right on Grosvenor Square. Unlike Annabelle’s and Loulou’s, the Twenty Two is a hotel first, and a private club second. It’s similar to Soho House in concept, except the Twenty Two’s staff really know what they’re doing on the hotel operations side. This is a real five-star hotel experience, yet genuinely warm and welcoming. That is, of course, if you have a dinner reservation for the public restaurant, or a membership to the exclusive club.

As a hotel guest, you are treated as an honorary member. That means the private dining room, bar, and the late-evening club (which is the place to be on a Saturday night) are within your domain. The crowd alone at the Twenty Two makes it one of the best hotels in London, but then the team takes it all the way. You feel like a guest in a home (as opposed to a hotel), as the team makes it a point to get to know you. We’ve wrote about the Twenty Two when it launched, but we can say that to stay there personally is a whole other level of mad love. We’re still dreaming of that breakfast every morning. The menu didn’t just dial it in with standard omelets, though those were darned good, with truffles and caviar. Inventive dishes like zucchini pancakes, polenta eggs with mushrooms, and a green shakshuka were all done up to Michelin level. The Twenty Two has found that magic balance of luxury, exclusivity, and modern top-tier service. London is an even more compelling location because of this hotel.
