Hudson Valley Restaurants

January is all about getting cozy with it, which is the perfect excuse for a field trip to the Hudson Valley + Catskills. This time of the year is so Norman Rockwell, with the warm fires, easy-going pace of life and good eats. These are a few of the restaurants in the Hudson Valley and Catskills to set on the GPS for a weekend trip.

The Hereafter

The Hereafter is proof that the next Brooklyn is in the Hudson Valley. A craft cocktail bar, they make it fun, classy, eccentric and deep — literally. Cocktails are set up into these categories based on what you’re in the mood for. Or, maybe you’re in the mood for all of the above.

Location: 721 Columbia Street, Hudson, New York

Mirador

Bringing a little bit of Spain to the Hudson Valley, Mirador is a tapas restaurant in Kingston. By day, it’s a casual cafe, and by evening, the sherry and Spanish dishes start to flow.

Location: 636 Broadway Kingston, NY

Nansense

This one caught our eye, as it’s not everyday that you have a piece of Kabul in the Hudson Valley. Nansense is a fast-casual concept that serves Afghan food. So, while you’re bar-hopping through Beacon, this is where to stop for a nosh and a piece of Afghanistan culture.

Location: 2 Eliza Street, Beacon, NY

Silvia

As one of the prettiest restaurants in the Hudson Valley, everything about Silvia expresses the passion of its owner. Silvia is everything good about this part of New York; it’s family-owned, sustainable and built on the foundation of good, honest food.

Location: 42 Mill Hill Rd, Woodstock, NY

Phoenicia Diner

When the philosophy is “you come for the mountains and you stay for the food,” it’s a good sign. Phoenicia is a classic diner. You really do wonder whether it’s for the view, or for their French toast that makes this a perfect brunch spot. The answer is — both.

Seminary Hill

If you’re looking for a place to sleep, place to eat and place to grab a homemade cider, Seminary Hill is it. Family-owned and run, Seminary Hill is as charming as it gets in the Catskills. The restaurant serves up top farm-to-table food too.

Location: 43 Wagner Ln, Callicoon, NY 12723

Matilda

They had us at pithivier with foie gras. Matilda is one of the most refined dining experiences in the Hudson Valley, without the formality. That’s not to say that their dining room isn’t elegant with high design aesthetic (which it is). They elevate the food while staying true to their Hudson Valley/Catskills locale.

Location: 39 Goshen Rd, Hensonville, New York

Eliza Bistro

Location: 582 Broadway, Kingston NY

Kaatskleller

Sometimes you just want a slice of ‘za, or in this case, a whole pie. Kaatskleller has you covered, with its wood-fired pizzas. This is a place you bring the entire family and then some, as a fun, casual evening out.

Location: 39 Main St, Livingston Manor, NY 12758

Rivertown Tavern

Location: 731 Warren St, Hudson, NY

The Walk In Manor

Location: 66 Main St, Livingston Manor, NY
