Villa Feltrinelli
Welcome to the Daydream, 30 seconds to inspire your new #hotelgoals. We heard about this one over 10 years ago, at dinner sitting next to a Swiss billionaire who extolled its virtues. Normally when there’s a hotel of interest, we get right on a plane, but this one is worth saving to enjoy with someone you still want to be talking to in five years. Let’s Daydream — at the Villa Feltrinelli.
Why we like it:
We will always love Como, but this is more off-grid on neighboring Lake Garda, where the real hitters who don’t want to be seen vacation in the region go. Villa Feltrinelli is a destination hotel, where you check in and don’t leave the property until you check out. The experience is being in this 19th-century villa that, before becoming one of the most exclusive hotels in the world, once held Benito Mussolini in exile. Today, it’s the definition of classic Italian villa luxury and the kind of place you want to dress for dinner — à la James Bond, fittingly, since the property made an appearance in a Bond film or two. Good for honeymoons, anniversaries, engagements, babymoons — you get the idea.
