Andy Murray’s Perthshire Hotel: The Cromlix

a large red brick Victorian hotel with white windows surrounded by green grass and green bushes against a blue sky

The Property: The Cromlix Hotel

Who owns The Cromlix?

The Cromlix is owned by tennis superstar Andy Murray, the thirty-two-year-old Scottish tennis legend. He is the winner of three Grand Slam titles, two Olympic gold medals and he is a Davis Cup champion.

He is also a founding member of the charity Malaria No More UK (alongside none other than David Beckham) and an active anti-cancer charity spokesperson. Sir Andy Murray is an all-around good guy.

Why you should visit The Cromlix Hotel

History of The Cromlix

The Cromlix Hotel is a drenched-in-history kind of spot. Little is known about the Lairds of Cromlix before the 15th century, but we do know that in the early 15th century, Edmund Chisholm acquired the Cromlix Estate. Cromlix remained in the family for four centuries.

In 2014, the estate’s Victorian mansion was converted into a luxury hotel and is managed by Inverlochy Castle Management International.

Hotel Facilities

This is a five star Estate which boasts ten bedrooms and five suites with each one offering individual design and character.  Many of the luxurious rooms are equipped with hand-painted, free-standing baths and antique Scottish furniture. A stay at The Cromlix feels like you’re stepping into a Jane Austen novel.

There are elegant communal rooms such as the drawing room, snooker room, meeting rooms and conservatory. You can also stay in self contained accommodation in the historic gate lodge.

The Cromlix lies in thirty-four acres of secluded woodlands and garden grounds and has its own chapel and loch (Scottish for lake). Guests can enjoy activities including archery, fishing and of course, tennis coaching on the hotel’s tennis courts. Guests seeking to relax can indulge in pampering in-room spa treatments.

There is an onsite Chez Roux restaurant which was originally run by Chef Albert Roux and is now overseen by Michel Roux Jr. The restaurant serves seasonal meals from locally-sourced produce and offers a champagne afternoon tea. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a traditional Scottish breakfast.

The Location

The Cromlix is situated in beautiful countryside, just three miles from Dunblane which is Andy Murray’s home town.

It is an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Scotland and the hotel offers guests organised tours including history, nature and whiskey tours.

The Scottish capital Edinburgh is one hour away by train and car but Glasgow is even closer at just 40 minutes by car. Visitors hoping for a more rural experience can visit Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, a short one hour drive from The Cromlix.
