145831104

Discover the perfect way to introduce your little ones to the wonderful world of Thanksgiving Dinner with a scrumptious Cranberry-Apple Crisp. This delectable treat boasts a buttery, crumbly topping and just the right balance of tartness and sweetness. It is so irresistibly delicious that you will not even be pining for grandma’s traditional apple pie! Here is how to prepare it.

Serves 8

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 50 minutes

Ingredients

6 firm Macoun apples, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks

3/4 cup dried cranberries

1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

For the topping:

1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1 cup old-fashioned oatmeal

1/2 pound (2 sticks) of unsalted butter, melted

Procedure

To prepare the dish, start by preheating your oven to 350°F. Next, grab a large bowl and combine some fresh apples and cranberries. Add some lemon zest and juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss everything together until the fruit is coated in the mixture. Then, pour the fruit mixture into a 9×12 baking dish.

To create the topping, combine some flour, sugar, salt, and oatmeal in another large bowl. Mix everything together well. Next, add some melted butter and stir until the mixture is thoroughly combined. Once that’s done, sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit, making sure to cover everything completely.

Now, place the dish in the oven and bake for around 50 minutes. Keep an eye on it until the top is a lovely golden brown and the fruit is bubbly. Once it is ready, take it out and serve it warm. Enjoy!
