San Diego: Your Next Family Vacation

San Diego Park Hyatt Aviara

We know, this summer just flew by. But you’re ready for one last hurrah before everyone’s back in school and back to the grind. Sometimes, the answer is right in front of you. A trip to San Diego is just what the doctor ordered. San Diego has perfect weather. Amusement parks galore. There’s even a zoo. Here’s your next family vacation.

The Stay

Just minutes from Legoland, Park Hyatt Aviara is a luxury resort in Carlsbad (close to San Diego) that’s made for a family trip. The hotel features 327 rooms and 43 suites. Some of these suites include private balconies and patios. The property is situated so you be on the Pacific Coast’s beaches or the Aviara gold club. The two main restaurants are Ponto Lago and Ember & Rye. Each serves breakfast lunch and dinner with a costal influence. Ponto Lago treats it’s guests to live music from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Sundays. For a quicker bite or drink, the Pacific Point Lobby bar and Water’s Edge have you covered. Pacific Point Lobby also has live music on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Family Activities

The grounds include two pools: the ocean view pool deck and the splash pool deck. The splash pool, open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., has a number of slides to entertain the kids.  The ocean view pool is more for the adults. If the kids tire of the water slides, Park Hyatt Aviara has other activities they might enjoy, like sandcastle-building contests, dive-in movies, and tennis. Ten minutes from Legoland also means just a quick day trip…and back in time for dinner.

Golf

The Aviara golf club is the only Arnold-Palmer-designed golf club in California. The course is also home to the LPGA JTBC Classic part of the LPGA Tour. Since the course is designed for the best, the Park Hyatt Aviara offers both private lessons and group lessons. For an even more intense class, the resort offers Kip Puterbaugh’s Aviara Golf Academy. Here you can learn from seven of the top 50 golf instructors in California.

Day of Fun

With 29 rides and activities, Legoland can entertain the whole family for hours. Some of the attractions include the traditional dragon-themed rollercoaster and the Legoland driving school. About 40 minutes from Park Hyatt Aviara and a good half hour from Legoland, the San Diego Zoo could be the next stop on your next family vacation. Its wildlife includes grizzly bears to giraffe. Guided bus tours, air trams, and mini trains will help in getting the family from place to place.
