YOUR INSPIRATION TO EXPLORE THE WORLD

Welcome Home

summer travels founder's note

It’s been a tear of summer travels at Galavante, where our team dispersed around the world, from Burning Man in the Black Rock Dessert to parties on Mykonos and boats in Ibiza.

I found myself in winter over the summer, as I visited Australia for the first time.  With my journalist hat on, I had the pleasure to cover the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, which is the largest sailing race in the southern hemisphere.  Until recently, it was the challenger of record to the America’s Cup.

And let me say, people who sail know how to party.  Lavish dinners, afternoons on the yacht chasing the leaders of the race, helicopters to deserted beaches and snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef – it was a lifetime experience.   We have a preview of qualia, the gorgeous place I stayed, where the likes of Miranda Kerr and Oprah have traveled with entourage.  It was a whirlwind of a trip, along with 2 days in Sydney where I did my restaurant due diligence on 12 spots and ended with a rainy dawn walk on Bondi beach, complete with rainbow.  It was one of the best days I’ve had this year.

Over Labor Day in the Hamptons, I started to see the first leaves changing, but instead of wishing for more summer days, I am ready to get back to work.

For me, September means a decadent month where I get to spend time with the talented editors of Galavante in my favorite city in the world – New YorkFashion Week has started, and my neighborhood, the Upper West Side, is looking far more fashionable than normal.  Admittedly I’ve found myself breaking out the Chloe and YSL ankle booties for coffee runs at Epicerie Boulud across from Lincoln Center.   At heart I’m still in high school trying to fit in with the cool kids.  I’ve caught a few shows with friends for Fashion Week, which has inspired me to up our Style section.  Expect to see some fun interviews with top fashion icons, along with more fashion experts who will get you the best inside scoop on travel fashion, beauty products and what’s trending now.

We have big plans this fall at Galavante.  First, our magazine will be focusing on more practical guides to get you around cities in your working jet set style, while still entertaining the he– out of you.  Along with our editorial, we’re bringing you the best travel deals from our hotel, villa, private plane and retail partners, who have been carefully selected because they are home run experiences.  From places that define luxury, to places that will challenge you physically and mentally beyond your boundaries, we have the full spectrum of VIP treatment for you around the world.  Our full-service travel bookings will also extend to a new online travel booking, where you can book flights, hotels and car rentals.  So essentially, for travel, we are your hook up.

Speaking of hook ups, our Galavante members will be invited to events throughout this fall.  Like our style in travel, we know how to throw a party.  From getting bejeweled with 20 karats of diamonds by Jyoti Singhvi, to suites overlooking Central Park and clubs where it’s impossible to get in, Galavante membership has its privileges.  Lots of them.  Thank you for being part of our adventure.

All the best,
