There’s a utopia where winters are so mild that you can eat gelato all year round. Here, people watching is always fashionable and no place makes a cacio e pepe pasta better. Welcome to Rome, which is a go-to destination especially now through the winter months. Even thinking about walking around the Spanish Steps makes us want an affogato. And now, there’s a new-ish luxe hotel that’s another reason you want to head to Rome. The Bulgari is up and running in the Eternal City, and they’re crushing it.
The Grand Opening
Normal hotels quietly soft open their doors and grind out the inevitable new hotel jitters. The Bulgari however had ambassadors Priyanka Chopra, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya walk the red carpet. It wasn’t just a party either; it was an opening gala to announce that the Bulgari Rome had arrived. With it, the Bulgari Rome ushered in a whole new level of luxury hotel to Rome. Where the traditional hotels are classic old buildings that are low-key Roman luxury, the Bulgari is just grand scale luxury.
Rooms
You might say that the Bulgari Rome is a hotel of mosts, where opulent modern luxury is on that list. Like the other Bulgari hotels, the design is clean modern lines, but the DNA of the hotel speaks luxury. As part of the “most” distinctions, the Bulgari probably has the most expensive suite of a hotel in the city, at 38,000 Euro nightly. For that nut, the aptly named Bulgari Suite gets you over 3,000 square feet, complete with dining room and bar. In other words, this room begs you to host a dinner party, or at least an after hours.
Rooms start at around 1,500 euro nightly otherwise for the 114 rooms and suites. So while it’s not quite a democracy that everyone can partake in, a stay at the Bulgari Rome is relatively within reach.
Dining
We are huge fans of the Niki Romito in Dubai, which is also the signature restaurant of the Bulgari Rome. The Dubai location actually has some of the best pizza in the world, so we’re looking forward to what the Rome location brings. Other than the main restaurant, there’s the signature Bulgari Bar for aperitif hour, which is a thing in Rome. Il Caffe is the casual ground floor restaurant overlooking the piazza, and is unique to the Rome location. There’s also a Champagne bar, Bulgari lounge for casual day meetings and bites and a rooftop restaurant.
Spa
The nine Bulgari hotels around the world are known for their opulent spas. The Bulgari Rome house treatments are by Augustinus Bader in the 8 treatment rooms and pool that span and over 15,000 square feet. As is a signature of all the Bulgari spas, the Rome location has a 20 meter show stopper of a pool. In other words, the Bulgari is a place you would forgo a day of sightseeing to chill out at the spa. After all, the Romans did it, so why not?
