There’s a new hotel group on the scene, and they’ve put down their first roots in the not-so-under-the-radar St. Tropez. But they’re not just in it for the summer yacht season. Instead, they’re making the South of France an all-year-round destination. This is the first look at Arev, one of the coolest hotels to open in a while.
A Hotel that’s a HomeOkay, maybe it’s more accurately described as a large estate that should be in the countryside of Provence. But Arev is a quick walk to the center of St. Tropez. With Arev, it’s like all the St. Tropez compromises you have to make with luxury hotels are solved. Firstly, Arev is close to nightlife – 8 minutes from the Place des Lices. Secondly, it’s 15-minute walk to dancing on a table at L’Opera for the night. And most importantly, it’s a real luxury hotel, where the rooms, spa and service punch above its weight class in price. Rooms are at a nut that won’t break your bank. No, it’s not as high-end as Cheval Blanc, but it certainly has beautifully designed rooms, and a crowd just as chic. It may not be on the beach either like La Reserve, but they shuttle you to a nearby beach club. And it has every bit the value of Lily of the Valley with a fresh take on luxury, except it’s right in the center of town. It could be that Arev was destined for greatness just by its name. Arev’s name is a play on the French world for “dream,” and it’s that idyllic vibe that runs throughout. You feel it from the time you walk through the courtyard filled with flowers and trees. When you enter the hotel, its distinct fresh design and familial vibe make you feel right at home. The Cool Luxury HotelGenerally, the top hotels in the St. Tropez area aren’t where the scene is, but Arev looks to fill that gap. They revived a long-time St. Tropez favorite, The Strand, which is the main hotel restaurant. We knew that it was going to be a good scene when they partnered with Bagatelle to bring it back to life. There’s also a Champagne room, and their bar, Q’s, is a speakeasy that brings on the romantic interlude vibes. Arev also doesn’t play it safe with a serene monochrome design. Instead, they play on the joy of St. Tropez, with bold reds and blues. The design is one of the most unique aspects of Arev. That, and it’s open all-year-round, which makes it a top off-season destination – even if it wasn’t in St. Tropez. This is a hotel to look out for whether you’re in Paris this winter and want to get away, or in for a classic St. Tropez summer.
