Just when we thought the hardest reservation to get was The Corner Store, then came Amanvari. Aman’s first outpost in Mexico, Amanvari is officially opening its doors August 1st, and will be hands down, the most luxurious hotel in Mexico.
The Setting
Located within the exclusive Costa Palmas community on the shores of the Sea of Cortez, Amanvari is an intimate retreat with just 18 standalone casitas and a limited collection of Aman Residences. The property sits at the meeting point of desert, ocean, and estuary landscapes. As a result, guests will enjoy access to one of Baja California Sur’s most unspoiled stretches of coastline, where towering Cardón cacti, rugged mountains, and swimmable beaches shape the scenery. Designed by Elastic Architects, Amanvari takes its name from the Sanskrit words for “peace” and “water.” The architecture was created to blend naturally into the surrounding landscape while connecting indoor and outdoor living. Each casita features a private heated pool, outdoor shower, spacious terrace, and views of either the Sea of Cortez, a palm grove, or the beachfront.
Beyond the accommodations, the resort serves as a gateway to the East Cape’s outdoor adventures. Guests can dive among manta rays and sea turtles in nearby Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. Alternatively, they can explore the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, fish in the Sea of Cortez, or discover the coastline on horseback.
Dining
The resort boasts Aman’s signature Italian restaurant, Arva, and Japanese concept Sesui, which features a 10-seat omakase counter. Meanwhile, the oceanfront Luma celebrates Baja’s coastal traditions through open-fire cooking and locally inspired dishes.
Global Wellness with Local Influence
Wellness is also a central focus. The Aman Spa combines Aman’s longevity-minded philosophy with traditional Mexican healing practices. Highlights include a modern interpretation of a Temazcal sweat lodge, hydrotherapy experiences inspired by the banya and hammam, an open-air yoga pavilion, and six treatment rooms.
