We know that you are all about St. Tropez this summer, and of course, we have a guide for that too. However, if you find yourself in the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc territory this season, or at any time in your life, this is the guide to Cannes and Antibes to get you started on the vacation of a lifetime.

When over 85% of your guests are people who return year after year, you know you’re doing something right. Then when you make that over 130 years, which is the history of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, you hit icon status. Most people who get the coveted reservation barely leave the hotel during their stay. However there are places to visit in Cannes and within Antibes itself that are worth the field trip. This is your Antibes and Cannes guide, but if you never leave the pool, we won’t judge.

Antibes and Cannes are about 25-30 minutes away from each other during the busy summer season. It’s worth it, even if you’re staying at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, to venture into Cannes for lunch and a few dinners. This is our guide to Cannes restaurants as well as a few near the Hotel du Cap in Antibes.

As any great guide to Cannes and Antibes will tell you, the essence of this part of the South of France is practicing the life of leisure. The luxury shopping, Michelin-starred restaurants are all just gravy to grabbing a lounger at the beach club or a spot at the Hotel du Cap’s pool, if you’re a guest at the hotel. When you do make it to Cannes, a stroll down the Boulevard de la Croisette is essential.

The Itinerary

The beauty of this guide to Cannes and Antibes is that you choose your own adventure. We’ve outlined a foundation though that you should make your own. The itinerary overall is a balance between enjoying the Hotel du Cap but also getting out in the world a bit. This foundation itinerary also assumes that you are staying at the Hotel du Cap.

If you’re not staying at the Hotel du Cap and at a hotel in Cannes, then we suggest loading up on activities and beach clubs during the day. You can also head to Monaco, Eze and St. Paul de Vence which is a worthwhile field trip with Cannes as your home base. We’ve been asked this question numerous times about whether there is a hotel that matches the Hotel du Cap. The answer is no, not even close in the Cannes, Antibes and Monaco area. However the hotels in this guide to Cannes are all good. You’ll just have a different experience and less time enjoying the hotel as a destination.

Arrival Day – Day I

  • Pool side and swimming in the Mediterranean
  • Lunch at The Grill 
  • Afternoon at the Hotel du Cap pool
  • Late dinner at Zuma 

Cannes Exploration and Hotel du Cap Pool – Day III 

  • Leisurely breakfast
  • Late morning shopping in Cannes and walk along the Croisette
  • Lunch at Nammos
  • Afternoon at the Hotel du Cap pool
  • Dinner at Louroc 

Boat Day + Exploration by Sea – Day IV  

  • Breakfast at leisure 
  • Morning pickup for your private boat around the area, stopping in local towns
  • Late lunch at La Guerite
  • Return to the Hotel du Cap for late afternoon poolside and sunset
  • Pre-dinner drinks at Bar Bellini
  • Dinner at The Grill 

Hotel du Cap Day at Leisure or St. Tropez Day – Day V

  • Helicopter to St. Tropez for the day for shopping or
  • Leisurely day for tennis and relaxation at the Hotel du Cap

If you go to St. Tropez for the day, then a casual dinner at Giovanni’s. Alternatively you can have dinner in Cannes at Zuma, Nammos or Le Baoli if you stay local for the day.

Eze and Saint Paul

Exploration of Eze and St. Paul de Vence – Day VI 

  • Breakfast at leisure
  • Late morning pickup for exploration of Eze’s Medieval town
  • Light lunch at Colombe d’Or
  • Afternoon shopping in St. Paul de Vence

A: Although Cannes and Antibes is most popular during the summer, most locals will tell you that the best time to visit is just before or just after summer. This way, the weather will be pleasant enough to spend time outdoors without overheating.

A: There is no shortage of five-star hotels in Antibes and Cannes. However the best and our recommendation is to stay at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc. That is, if you can get a reservation. Otherwise if you’re in Cannes for work, the Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes, or ​​Hôtel Martinez. Additionally the Carlton Cannes recently had a massive renovation so that is also worth checking out. 

Q: How long should I stay in Antibes and Cannes?

A: The length of your stay depends on how many activities you wish to fit into each day. We recommend staying for a minimum of 5-7 days to enjoy your trip to the fullest.
