Your East Coast Inns List

Twin Farms Suite sitting room

‘Tis the season to make the most of your weekends. And while you’ll be everywhere from Amalfi to Ibiza this year you’re not sitting idly at home in between. These are the East Coast Inns to plug into the GPS for that quick summer getaway.

The weather is only getting warmer from here on, which means partaking in sunny East Coast adventures, of course, you’ll need a luxury stay to match. Here are the inns that should be on your radar.

The Inn: Twin Farms

The Location: Barnard, Vermont

Overview

Imagine your ideal trip amongst the forest trees, but elevated interiors to retreat to, Twin Farms probably isn’t too far off. The 300-acre property is divided between cottages, suites, lodges, and the newest addition – treehouses, elevated 20 ft off the ground.

What’s great about this stay is that everything is paid upfront from activities and meals to spirits and amenities. There’s no stress of a rising bill cost and you can indulge in all the farms have to offer. Speaking of their offerings, everything is deeply customizable. So, you can feel like you have the property completely to yourself in a private cottage, or go for a more social vibe in the lodge’s conjoint suites with shared common spaces. Each accommodation has its own vibe, but the common denominator is comfort (cozy fireplaces and extensive art collection included). The food is all locally sourced and seasonal and the many activities include bee tours, archery, and biking. You can come back again and have a fresh perspective each time.

The Inn: White Barn Inn & Spa

The Location: Kennebunkport, Maine

Overview

While the rooms at White Barn Inn & Spa are luxurious in their own right with rainfall showers and farmhouse chic influence; the spa and restaurants are why people go here. The spa menu has unique experiences like Native American raindrop therapy and a honey and milk exfoliant bath. CBD Immersion treatments and spiritual coaching are also on the list.

All that healing work is most likely going to work up an appetite. It’s a good thing the White Barn Inn Restaurant has AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star awards. The romantic, rustic feel doesn’t hurt either. The Little Barn Restaurant gives you a more casual option if you’re feeling something more lowkey. The food overall is focused on farm fresh and fish-forward dishes.

If you’re the crafty type then this is the inn for you. White Barn has wine and cheese painting classes, barn crafts, and antique and vintage scavenger hunts. For the adrenaline junkie of your group, helicopter and seaplane rides will make the trip unforgettable.

The Inn: White Elephant Inn

The Location: Nantucket, Massachusetts

Overview

We’ve spoken about our go-to farm stays, this one is taking us to the waters, specifically the Nantucket Harbor. You may have heard of the Nantucket White Elephant Residences, they’ve been around for a while. But the Inn is only a few years old, so here’s what you need to know.

There are four different view options- resort, harbor, garden, and downtown. The decor is beachy and bright to accentuate the island feel and whether you choose a room or suite they all have Italian linens, a workspace, and a tiled shower and bath. The larger suites are budget-friendly relative to the neighboring hotel, so you’re saving while experiencing the intimacy of an Inn. All amenities are included, like the pool, cabanas, morning pastries, and access to the spa. And we can’t forget about the food, Brant Point Grill has rotating menus throughout the day. Fresh New England seafood and wine pairings from their award-winning cellar are available daily alongside live music.

The Inn: Chatham Inn Relais & Châteaux

The Location: Chatham, Massachusetts

Overview

Chatham Inn is the oldest inn in the Cape area. A few years back the inn went through a makeover and now it’s the leading Hotel in Cape Cod. It’s also awarded in the Top 20 Hotels for Best Service in the United States, and Top 20 Most Romantic Hotels in the United States. If your goal is to book a romantic stay with your second half, Chatham has come to the rescue.

You can choose between a room, deluxe room, and suites some of which come with a wet bar, wood-burning fireplace, and private balcony. Many of the bathrooms have also been upgraded to have marble and onyx accents. If the weather permits, the communal terrace and fire pit are also included. But, what Chatham Inn does best is focus on the quality of its items, from the Bulgari Luxury Spa Products to the Villeroy & Boch china at the dining room table at award-winning Cuvée. They even offer a 10-12 course private dinner during The Chef’s Table Experience.

The Inn: Castle Hill Inn

The Location: Newport, Rhode Island

Overview

If you’re looking for a home away from home experience, these secluded cottages are your golden ticket to a seaside oasis. If it was one of Grace Kelly’s go-to’s, we think it’s safe to say your Relais & Châteaux stay will be glamorous.

Castle Hill Inn’s 40 acres of land make it optimal for outdoor activities like nature tours, fishing demos, and bonfires beachside with an astronomer. Complimentary use of facilities at the Newport Tennis Hall of Fame is a fun perk for tennis aficionados. You can pick between a stay beachside in the cottages, on the hill in the Agassiz Mansion, or vacation like Grace Kelly once had, by the bay. They also have world-class dining at Aurelia with a view of Narragansett Bay and fresh local meals including a six-course tasting menu. Who doesn’t love the option to try a little bit of everything? For brunch, you’ll get to experience the mansion, even if you choose a beachside stay and on Sundays, there’s live jazz.
