The Super Bowl: Destination Los Angeles

Ever wonder how the locations for the Super Bowl are chosen? It used to be done by a proactive bid from candidate cities, but now it’s by invitation from the 32 NFL owners. This year, the Super Bowl comes to Los Angeles, which hosted its last Super Bowl in 1993. So in a week, Los Angeles will be the epicenter of what’s guaranteed to be a P-A-R-T-Y. These are the best hotels in Los Angeles to stay in, during the Super Bowl and beyond.

The Peninsula

Location: Beverly Hills

Right on Santa Monica Boulevard, The Peninsula sits in Beverly Hills, the famously unrivaled location for luxury in Los Angeles. You’ll be able to take in the best views of the city lights at night right from the comfort of your room.

Why to stay:

The best hotels in Los Angeles differ greatly in the vibe they have to offer. If you’re looking for something classic and effortlessly posh that embodies the elegance of Beverly Hills, this is it. You know you’ll be getting a five-star experience when you check into the Peninsula Beverly Hills.

Overview:

Enjoy afternoon tea, ultimate privacy, and top-notch dining. The Belvedere’s curated Mediterranean-inspired menu and outdoor terrace make for a quintessentially Beverly Hills experience. The hotel also offers a rooftop pool and gym.

The 1 Hotel West Hollywood

Location: West Hollywood

West Hollywood is classic LA, and you’ll want to hit Sunset and the Hollywood Hills.  Adjacent to the hotel you can find The Canyon, perfect for a romantic or solo stroll.

Why to stay:

This is one of the best hotels in Los Angeles if you’re looking for something chic, modern, and serene. There’s a lively scene, but you might have to stay up late to immerse yourself in it. Location-wise, it’s the best hotel in a string of classic LA properties.

Overview:

The 1 Kitchen and Juniper, the 1 Hotel‘s on-premise restaurants, are committed to fully organic and sustainable ingredients. You’ll find the same at Harriet’s Bar, which is situated on a rooftop and offers exceptional views of LA. The decor, food, and beverage are tops.

The Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel

Location: Beverly Hills

This is one of the best hotels in Los Angeles in terms of location. Rodeo Drive baby! At the Beverly Wilshire, you’re as close as you can get to the most luxurious shopping, dining, and entertainment in LA.

Why to stay:

If you have a soft spot for Classic Old Hollywood, you’ll find yourself right at home by the Beverly Wilshire. We’ll always think of Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. A stay at the Wilshire will also get you exclusive offers, such as a Maserati Suite Road Trip from Beverly Hills to San Francisco.

Overview:

You want a room with a view, as in  a room with views of Rodeo Drive. If you have a soft spot for the Old Hollywood charm, amp it up a notch by renting the Presidential Suite. Aka the Pretty Woman penthouse, because you know, it’s the best.

The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills

Location: West Hollywood

At the heart of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, you’re in the ideal spot to get a full LA experience.  The rooftop pool and available-to-rent private cabanas offer full views of Beverly Hills.

Why to stay:

The vibe here is cool, modern, and contemporary. You’ll find lower-key A-listers who aren’t based in LA.  The Premier Suites offer balconies and a touch of European flair in decor. You can also book the London West Hollywood’s incredible penthouse, the largest in Los Angeles.

Overview:

This is one of the top hotels in Los Angeles, partly because it has the largest rooms in town. It also has an incredible rooftop pool and lounge, which is the place to be at sunrise.

The Maybourne

Location: Beverly Hills

This is another top pick in Los Angeles, and again location is key. The Maybourne is tied with The Beverly Wilshire for the best location on this list.

Why to stay:

At the Maybourne, British hospitality meets California cool. Kind of like the new Prince Harry. The Maybourne’s bright, well-decorated rooms are modern and chic: perfect for work or play.

Overview:

The hotel has a lovely terrace for daytime dining. The Cigar and Whiskey bar offers a classic Hollywood feeling, wood finishes and red barstools included. Soak up the sun by the rooftop pool, or reset and recharge in the Spa’s Immersion Pool.

The Pendry

Location: West Hollywood

Right on Sunset Boulevard, The Pendry‘s locale will keep you busy even if you opt not to leave the hotel. Join the members-only Britely Social Club, which has its own bowling alley and a decor that will transport you to the prohibition era.

Why to stay:

The Pendry is one of the best hotels in Los Angeles, from design to updated luxury. Newly opened and brand spanking new. LA hotels can be mediocre even at the luxury tier, but this may just hit all the right notes.

Overview:

Culturally immersive and reverent, The Pendry is for those who feel the music and film scene of LA in their bones. Stir in some well-placed nostalgia, and you have the ideal place to live out your movie-star fantasies. The rooftop pool offers alfresco cocktails all day.

The Beverly Hilton

Location: Beverly Hills

Located on Wilshire Boulevard, all of the city’s most high-end shopping and excitement is just a stone’s throw away.

Why to stay:

The Beverly Hilton is on the list for a few reasons. First, the Aqua Star Pool is the largest heated pool in Beverly Hills, where guests sip cocktails poolside. You can book a private mini party room or private daybed to catch some zzz’s after a long night. The hotel also offers a salon and boutique, so you can get a fresh blowout and set of nails before heading out for a night on the town.

Overview:

The Beverly Hills Hilton completed a drastic renovation just last year, so the place looks spic ‘n’ span. Rooftop dining is available at Santo’lina. As for room choices, you can opt for a cabana to stay close to the pool; opt for great views when you book accommodations in the Wilshire Tower, or go for the extra-plush Penthouse Collection, a cluster of 16 suites on the eighth floor.
