Tom Cruise at the Olympics Closing Ceremony

With all those years as part of the Mission Impossible franchise, Tom Cruise picked up a skill or two, besides acting. A natural daredevil, Tom Cruise doesn’t need a stunt double to run for him, which fighting the bad guys often requires. And he surely doesn’t need someone to skydive for him either. We saw Tom Cruise at the Olympics cheering on the athletes, including at the Women’s Gymnastics qualifiers. But on Sunday’s Closing Ceremony, we saw Tom Cruise at the Olympics put on an epic stunt. Those rumors were true. Tom Cruise put his skydiving skills to officially pass the torch – literally and figuratively –  from Paris to Los Angeles.

It’s reported that Tom Cruise was part of the idea to create an elaborate handoff of the Olympic torch, or in this case, the flag, from Paris to LA. At the closing ceremony, Tom Cruise jumped Mission Impossible-style from the top of the Stade de France. He landed on the field to collect the flag from the Mayor of France and Simone Biles. From there, he took his motorbike to the Eiffel Tower, and hopped on a flight.

Back at the State de France on video, Tom Cruise parachutes with the flag to the Hollywood sign. All of this was pre-recorded and makes a lot more sense, as Tom Cruise was near the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles back in March. Talk about a way to see Tom Cruise at the Olympics. It was an epic Olympics overall; Paris delivered. Los Angeles officially has big shoes to fill.
