Clearly all the cool kids are in Copenhagen this summer. Jessica Chastain, Liam Hemsworth, Bradley Cooper and Matt Damon all broke bread together in Copenhagen. Ok, maybe it wasn’t quite bread, but it was some top Michelin-starred stuff. Two Michelin stars, to be exact. This is where the group who we didn’t know were BFFs, but deliciously love it so, dined in Copenhagen.
The Alchemist
There are fifteen Michelin-starred restaurants in Copenhagen. However only one hosted the Oscar-nominated and winning group of Jessica Chastain, Bradley Cooper and Matt Damon. Liam Hemsworth was served on the side. The restaurant wasn’t famed Noma, but instead The Alchemist. The fact that these A-Listers dined there together speaks volumes. You know that the group really likes each other as the meal is a 6-hour, 50-course affair. Like the movies they star in, the experience is a theatrical show.
The Courses
The kitchen is helmed by Rasmus Munk, who may just be on some psychedelic. We haven’t seen the concept of The Alchemist at a lot of places, or quite frankly, any. The fifty courses are majority food (about 47) and 3 of those courses are performances, starting with the first. So essentially they level set from the start that you’re going to have a tripped out experience at The Alchemist. If you keep an open mind, you may just love it.
When you arrive, you’re guided through the space first with a dance performance that you participate in. This primes you for what’s to come for the next 49 or so courses. There really is food though at The Alchemist, and as expected, it’s not at all traditional. There are bites that look like an eye, and an especially renowned course that looks like a human tongue. French kissing is encouraged at The Alchemist. Some of these courses have caviar, and some have Champagne. It’s not like they’re monsters who won’t feed you good food. The Alchemist is like an omakase experience. You have to trust the chef and just go with it. If you let go, you’ll have an unforgettable meal.
The Cost of The Alchemist
Bradley Cooper and Matt Damon in Copenhagen certainly dropped some coin on the dinner with their friends at The Alchemist. The starting price for the food is about $800/per person, with supplements for beverage pairings. Plan to drop around $1,200 a person to do up the experience right.
