When we learned that so few A-list celebs live in Paris, we wondered if that was the case with London. For those of you who were also spending nights pondering that question, we can report that turns out London is quite the desirable place to live. These are just a few of the celebs who live in London, and their favorite neighborhood haunts.
The Celeb: Kate Moss
The Haunts: Jin Kichi, Cecconi’s, China Tang
Kate will always be a London girl, even though she has retired her Londoner ways and settled in the Cotswalds. Her sprawling Grade II Listed Mansion (an honor of distinction for the home) looks out onto rustic woodland. This countryside retreat sets the stage for a garden that has since replaced the dance floor as her happy place.
But Kate’s tenure in London equipped her with a list of London’s best restaurants. One might argue Kate is one of the few who still has the power to set a trend in the city. One of her recent favs is Jin Kichi, a sushi spot she says is like a slice of Tokyo. The Hampstead restaurant is in Harry’s (as in Styles) neck of the woods. She also loves Farmacy for an easy and healthy lunch. The plant-based spot fits well within Kate’s philosophy on maintaining her figure. Not that she has to try, nor should you. Perhaps it is her retirement that has seen her frequent more restaurants like Cecconi’s and China Tang. The pricey and indulgent spots offer decadence and good, authentic food.
The Celeb: Harry Styles
The Haunts: La Creperie De Hampstead, Redemption Roasters, Primrose Hill, Groucho Club
The London-born man has set roots in Hampstead, where his multi-million dollar mansions keep getting bigger. At 30, he is one of London’s richest young celebrities, and his homes have shown it.
He shows love to his neighborhood, having swam in the public pond, and dined at La Creperie De Hampstead. Harry’s morning cup of joe can be found at Redemption Roasters, a socially conscious and posh coffee shop that has since gone viral for serving Harry his caffeine fix.
When he ventures from Hampstead, he visits Lemonia, a delightful Greek restaurant in Primrose Hill. Lemonia does a three course meal that features traditional cooking. Given that he has lived there for much of his life, Harry knows the ins and outs of the city. Now he spends his nights at Groucho Club, an exclusive club where he can safely party away from paparazzi.
The Celeb: Kate Middleton (and her husband, a certain Prince)
The Haunts: Bluebird, Dans Les Noir
We’re keeping Kate Middleton in our thoughts these days, and the best way is to honor her as THE London girl. She may spend much of her time these days resting at home at Kensington (which means she dines a la private chef). But she has sampled the fine fare of London in her past — especially in her dating days with Will.
Bluebird in Chelsea likely has the most well known connection to Kate and Will. The royal couple spent a considerable amount of time talking and perhaps falling in love at the restaurant. Bluebird has one of the most perfect vibes for modern royals. It has a tasteful and refined, high class aesthetic, with simple, well perfected European dishes.
Another of the pair’s restaurants is Dans Les Noir in in the Clerkenwell district. The dark dining concept helps conceal their identity, and enhances the eating experience.
