Where to Stay in Jackson Hole

The Review Amangani

Amangani Jackson Hole

We’ll clue you into a secret: Just like with the Hamptons, September may be the best month in Jackson Hole, in the big, beautiful state of Wyoming. And at the top of a tucked-away mountain range, you get one of the most stunning views of the Grand Teton Mountains from who else, but Aman’s Amangani, which literally means “peaceful home.”

Why we like it:

The View:

In a word, view.  Set atop of a mountainside overlooking the Grand Tetons, of all the places to stay in Jackson Hole, Amangani has the most stunning view.  And to take in that view is their swimming pool, where during the summertime, a full day should be dedicated to getting up close and personal with a lounger and a drink in hand.  The aesthetic of the hotel, from the moment you arrive, is serene, and lives up to the meaning of its name.  Stress levels come down immediately and no matter what deal you have to close, you’re on vacation.  We especially liked chilling in the library, where when work did get in the way, was so comfortable and beautifully decorated we didn’t mind spending an afternoon there with the computer at all.

The Service:

Service is perfection – professional yet Western charming.  They are on their game at Amangani where their team cannot do enough to make sure you’re well-looked after.  Hotel rooms are signature minimalist modern Aman, with fireplaces and big soaking tubs. Terraces and outdoor space for all room categories are ample and made to relax, especially if you have a larger suite.

The Food:

The food was the best we had in Jackson, (which is not known for its food in general) as their kitchen is under a new Executive Chef, whose mission is to take it to the next level.  There are off-the-menu dishes like steak tartare which are pieces of art.  We way over-ordered for breakfast but ate everything on the table.  Snake River Farms Pork Belly Benedict, coconut milk pancakes and avocado toast were favorites, so order it all.

What to know:

We heard from friends that the rooms needed a little sprucing, but we experienced it for ourselves, and having stayed at over 12 Amans, had no idea what they were talking about. The room we had was impeccable from top to bottom.  We scored an 87 on our Fitbit sleep, so they’re doing something right.

The Aman hotel cars are at a little premium to taxis but much more reliable and comfortable, so worth it to arrange for the quick 7 minute ride into the town of Jackson.

Common areas are especially impressive, from the moment you walk in the lobby and see the cathedral ceiling views of the surrounding mountain area.

The location is not directly in town but for us that was the selling point, and Amangani by football fields is the best place to stay in Jackson Hole during the summertime.
