Limoncello Yogurt Sorbetto

limoncello yogurt sorbetto

A mere mention of Campania brings cravings for Limoncello, the region’s bright, sweet, and soothing liqueur that lends itself to endless dessert interpretations. We’ve kept it simple with this Limoncello yogurt sorbetto, which pairs nicely with chilled berries or grilled peaches.

Yield: 8 servings

Italy is the land of limoncello. Sorbets in general hail from Italy, but this lemon-flavored concoction has become so popular that it can now be found all over the world. Classic sorbetto flavors like strawberry and raspberry are delicious, no doubt about it, but sometimes you just need a change of pace. This summer, why not try something new? Limoncello yogurt sorbetto is light and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to make at home.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 4 cups yogurt
  • ½ cup Limoncello
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest
  • ½ cup lemon curd (optional)

Directions:

In a small saucepan, combine the lemon juice and sugar and cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally. Let cool to room temperature.

Add the lemon juice and sugar mixture to a bowl with yogurt, Limoncello, and lemon zest. Whisk until combined.

If time permits, cover and refrigerate until the mixture is very cold, a few hours or up to one day.

Transfer the lemon yogurt mixture to the bowl of an ice cream maker, and process according to manufacturer’s directions.

Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

To take this recipe up a notch, once the mixture is churned, remove from the ice cream maker, top with lemon curd and swirl in the lemon curd with a knife before freezing.

Pairs well with:

Limoncello yogurt sorbetto is a refreshing dessert that pairs nicely with other fruits, such as grilled peaches.

Or choose fresh berries, macerate in limoncello for an extra kick, and serve on top of the sorbetto.

Serve in martini glasses or dessert bowls and garnish with mint leaves.

Note:

Lemon yogurt can also in place of plain yogurt for extra flavor. If using flavored yogurt, omit the lemon juice in the first step and without heating the sugar, add it to the yogurt along with Limoncello and lemon zest.

And since you have the Limoncello out, here are a few other recipes to try.
