You gotta hand it to Richard Branson, he knows travel. His private isle in the British Virgin Islands, Necker Island, has been on your list — especially if you get personally invited to one of his blowout parties. And just when you can’t fan out more, Sir Richard has another trick up his sleeve. Welcome to Moskito Island, where in lieu of renting an island, you can just rent one of his massive estates.
The Backstory
When Richard Branson bought Moskito Island, he wanted an experience that would be different from his own, private Necker Island. Only two miles from Necker, Moskito Island is open to the public and has been offering private estate rentals to guests since late 2021. Branson created four huge estates on the island that come fully staffed. In addition, there are Michelin-worthy chefs to cook all your meals. Each estate is unique in its own way, which gives guests a more personalized experience. Although the Oasis Estate, the Point Estate, and the Branson Estate are luxurious and idyllic, it’s the recent opening of the Village Estate that’s got everyone talking.
The Village Estate
The Village Estate is situated on a cliff on the western tip of the island, which gives it pristine views. It sleeps up to 18 people in seven separate guesthouses plus two bedrooms in the main villa. It has quirky surprises like a DJ booth that overlooks the two-story pool, and a slide that wraps around the edge of the estate. Of course, to keep the party going it has audio-synced LED lighting and a sound system fit for a stadium. In addition to these amenities, it also has a home cinema, a hot tub, a fire pit, and a billiards table. There’s a gym with ocean views as well as yoga classes offered in the garden. It even has its own hiking trail that connects to a larger one that winds throughout the island. There aren’t too many things hotter than this estate.
The Point Estate
The Point Estate is another cliffside property that provides exclusive access to one of the island’s beaches. It sleeps up to 14 adults and eight children in private guesthouses spread along the property. The sprawling main villa has four levels and includes two impressive master suites with unparalleled views. There are plenty of spaces for guests to congregate and relax with a large living area that overlooks the insane infinity pool. The property is tailor-made for families and includes amenities like foosball, pool, table tennis, and an area for movie nights. If that’s not enough, head down to the island’s recreation area, where you can play water sports and tennis.
The Oasis Estate
The Oasis Estate perches on the island’s peak, so you’ll have 360-degree views of the Caribbean Sea. It sleeps up to 18 guests with a layout that allows for both privacy and social engagement. The large wraparound infinity pool connects to a poolside bar. There are floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the four-story villa. There’s an ocean-facing gym, plenty of games, a fire pit , and an area for movies. What’s great about the Oasis Estate is that it has a sky-bar rooftop with a telescope to stargaze.
The Branson Estate
The Branson Estate is located on the northeast tip of the island. It sleeps up to 22 guests in three large private villas that are connected by an elevated wooden walkway. It has three different pools and a hot tub located in between the buildings. The estate is conveniently next to the recreation facilities and even has its own private beach. Its proximity to the the ocean offers tons of beach games and water activities. There are also lounge beds for relaxing. The Cove is the seaside dining area, perfect for having a drink by the ocean or a meal during sunset.
Whichever estate you choose, Moskito Island is sure to be an idyllic getaway you’ll remember for a long time.
