The Champagne & Caviar Bar at RH

Christine Drinan, Founder

What does a furniture store know about champagne and caviar? Apparently, a lot at the Champagne & Caviar Bar at RH Guesthouse. RH knows how to set a scene. You will have to try not to obsess over the chandeliers giving everyone influencer-level light. But then your attention will shift to the food, because caviar in cones, on potatoes or just a bump are on the way. This is a look at the RH caviar bar, and yes, they also have champagne.

Atmosphere

To set the scene for the RH Champagne & Caviar bar was a lay-up, because after all, furniture and design are the foundation of RH. The Champagne and Caviar bar are located in the lower level of the RH hotel and main restaurant. The upstairs restaurant is bright, sleek, airy and contemporary, in muted beiges. The Champagne & Caviar bar ups the luxury with an appropriately champagne-colored gold and cream color palate with amber crystal ceilings. It is worth noting that lighting makes everyone look impossibly good, so this is a good date spot if that’s how you roll. The space is intimate — with just 30 or so seats, but the vibe has upbeat energy. The crowd is a mix of local New Yorkers and out-of-towners looking to splurge and live large.

Food + Beverage

The menu is simple and as its name implies, focuses on caviar. You can have your caviar in cone, tartare, rolls with lobster, mashed potatoes, latkes and potato skins. There’s also the option to have your caviar on an onion-sour cream dip served with veggies, on top of guacamole, or with the RH potato chips (my favorite). The chips are so impossibly thin and light, I talk myself into thinking that they’re healthy. Otherwise, if you’re a purist, you can go for caviar just on blinis. They have several sizes that start at 30 grams, and tiers from Ossetra, Beluga, Kaluga and special reserve. Caviar is expensive — no two ways about it — but the RH  caviar bar makes it “accessible” with an entry point of $75 for two cones. If you don’t like caviar, you can opt for king crab or lobster rolls, steak, or salmon tartare.

Service

The service of RH Champagne & Caviar bar matches what you would expect; it’s polished, professional and flawless.

Overall: 7.9/10
