Librae Bakery Pistachio Rose Croissant

For those who don’t have Bahrain on the list (although seriously, you should), there’s now a taste of it in NYC — or, at least a Bahraini Bakery. Librae Bakery opened in Cooper Square, and life is officially complete. You need their Rose Pistachio Croissant in your life.

New York is no stranger to world-class bakeries, but Librae Bakery brings something entirely new to the city’s carb-loving crowd. They call themselves a “Third Culture Bakery” — which checks out, seeing as it’s the first Bahraini bakery in the city (we’re talking Middle-Eastern flavors like tahini, cardamom, orange blossom — you name it) mixed with classic Danish pastry techniques. So this is important to us all — die-hard croissant fans, those who appreciate a good loaf of sourdough, all Middle Eastern tang aficionados, breakfast and lunch eaters — we all have a reason to go.

The Menu

The menu is divided into Laminated Doughs, Cookies, Sandwiches, and Sourdough. So they’ve pretty much covered all their bases. Breakfast is covered — we already mentioned the Rose Pistachio Croissant, but throw in the Za’atar Labneh Morning Bun and Banana Sesame Caramel Danish and you have breakfast all day. For lunch, your Sandwich options are Salmon, Herb Tuna, Chickpea, and Roasted Beet (but the cool ones, with Honey Orange Roasted Beets, Avocado, Arugula, Labne Mustard, Pumpkin Seeds — that kind). On your way home, you can buy a loaf of House Sourdough or a Rye Baguette, and slice it up alongside your dinner. And then you rinse and repeat.

And they don’t stop at food. There’s a selection of merchandise that you can buy from their online store. Cute tea towels, embroidered holiday croissant socks, hoodies, and sweatshirts at a nominal price.
