Some people are just couples goals, and these two kids are just too darned cute. I mean, the way that John Krasinski looks at Emily Blunt is just everything. And the couples that travel together, stay together. This is where Emily Blunt and John Krasinski travel.
When most couples travel, they stay in hotels. These lovebirds truly up the game by traveling to their own properties, one of which is a former hotel. Their portfolio makes sense considering they’ve been married since 2010, which is almost ancient history. For the Valentine’s Day issue, we want to showcase a level of commitment to each other that’s second to few. This is where John Krasinski and Emily Blunt travel.
London
Ever since the first lockdown, the couple and their daughters have been living in Walthamstow. When you live somewhere you love, everyday can feel like a vacation. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt travel enough. For now, staycations are in.
The adorable town of Walthamstow is matched by the equally adorable accents that the couple said their daughters have picked up since moving from the US. Located in east London, Walthamstow is a historic and nature-packed gem just a tube ride from the hustle and bustle. The place has the longest (but not the largest) open-air produce market in Europe, as well as an vibing emerging arts scene. But nothing beats the wetlands nature reserve, which is also the largest nature reserve in London. If there’s one place a kid should grow up, it’s here.
John and Emily join an already impressive list of residents, including Gordon Ramsey and Louis Theroux. Perhaps it’s not the most well known, but its the type of place you’ll want to remember for your next trip to London. The pub and craft brewery scene has grown in the last decade, and with has come a newer quirkiness — perfect for the Office star and his girl next door.
The couple also clearly enjoy the area, having been spotted out to eat at the River Cafe in Hammersmith. The restaurant has held and maintained a Michelin star since 1998, and is a favorite for Londoners.
In London, you have your pick of the litter in terms of where to stay. We’ve collected a few of our favs where you will feel as royal as a Hollywood celebrity.
Brooklyn
If one incredible home wasn’t enough, the couple also own an entire floor in the building formerly known as the Standish hotel in Crown Heights Brooklyn. Where John Krasinski and Emily Blunt travel, they lay foundations. The building made history as a hotel when it opened its doors in 1903. Then it made history again after its renovation: Matt Damon purchased the penthouse. Seems like John and Emily can’t get enough of their famous neighbors. We don’t blame them. Residents have access to the gym, children’s play area, and a roof terrace from its days as a hotel. The building also has a claim to fame as an inspiration for the Superman comic books.
And though we are Manhattanites here, we can appreciate Brooklyn Heights. After all, the neighborhood is just one stop from Manhattan. The historic neighborhood is so beautiful that residents tried to make it a national landmark. Some say that they have the most beautiful views in all of New York. Over 600 pre-war brownstones, home to some of New York’s wealthiest, line the streets. It’s also simply adorable, with the historical society and the “fruit streets” named orange, cranberry, and pineapple.
Brooklyn also has some of the best new hotels and restaurants in NYC. We recommend the One Hotel Brooklyn. Where John Krasinski and Emily Blunt travel, you want to stay as they would — somewhere super top tier.
Honorable mention: Montecito
You know that when Oprah moves somewhere, its a good place to be. Montecito is the former home town of John and Emily, whose early post-marriage life included multiple California properties (one of which they sold to Kendall Jenner). Montecito is a coastal part of Santa Barbara where celebrities make themselves homes on long stretches of beach. Houses here go for millions. However, locals consider it still under the radar.
With easy access to the beach and mountains, even the famous locals keep it low key. They’re mostly seen out and about shopping, or eating at the fresh, ultra-Cali restaurants. Some say Starbucks lines are longer since famous duo Harry and Meghan moved to town. But it would take a lot to shake the sleepy, wine- and sun-drenched ambiance of the town.
A weekend in Montecito will do you wonders. We think the Belmond El Encanto is where it’s at when it comes to hotels. Make sure you also check out the Goop pop-up at the Rosewood. And if you’re celebrating something special on your vacay, hit up the San Ysidro Ranch, where many of your favorite celebs have been married. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt travel like elites. You should too.
