Today we Galavante to Northern Ireland, for a wee bit of whiskey, and a wee bit of golf. With four top-notch golf courses and the largest amateur golf tournament in Europe this May, this is the place to tear it up with your crew. Northern Ireland is completely undiscovered as a destination, though with two of the world’s best golfers from the area – Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell, it may not stay so for long. This is the perfect weekend destination, where you can hit the links, or change it up with surfing the Irish sea, taking in a castle or two and definitely stopping for pints along the way.
The Northern Ireland trip was inspired by my husband David’s close high school friend, Louis. David and Louis were part of the Ulster Program, which sought to bring peace between the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland by bringing kids from both sides to study together in the U.S. With many years of stories between them, I met Louis for the first time when we got married almost 14 years ago. It wasn’t until this last spring that we reconnected for the first time since our wedding, where Louis greeted us with, “How was the honeymoon?”. Louis, and his lovely girl Jillian showed us Northern Ireland in style, which we share with you.
