Ever wonder where all your family friends have gone for the weekend, as no one seems to be around? Well, if they’re staying local, there’s a good chance that they’re at the new Legoland. This Mecca for kids is about an hour from practically every destination in the tri-state area. But this is no normal Legoland; it’s the tricked-out version. Here are the details of Legoland in New York.
Location: Goshen, Orange County New York
The Hudson Valley just provided another reason for your family to take a weekend trip, and that’s the opening of Legoland in New York. This is not your average amusement park. As of August 2021, the place also has a hotel, located right outside of the park gates. Yes, now it’s possible to go all legos, all the time. Is this a good or bad thing? Well, it depends on your family hotel preference, because this obviously isn’t the Four Seasons. However, it could be a good pre-trip before you take the plunge to hit up Disney in California or Florida. And given its one-hour distance to New York City, it’s an accessible vacation for all. At minimum it’s a spot to get away with your younger kids this summer and beyond.
The Broad Strokes
For those who are space-constricted in a New York City apartment, you now have room to throw the ultimate birthday party. There’s even a large pool at Legoland, open during the summers, which can be a great place to beat the heat if you don’t have your Hamptons rental. Personally, we’re both intrigued and terrified by the disco elevator, which seems to be a big hit with the kids. Also a hit are the rooms themed with ninjas, pirates, and castles. Legoland in New York is where your kids will be easily, effortlessly entertained, from the park to the hotel.
A weekend in Legoland in New York doesn’t have to be entirely dedicated to the iconic Danish building blocks. The Hudson Valley offers nature trails and waterfalls — and for the less outdoorsy, the Woodbury Common Outlets, which is just about 15 minutes away.
