When we heard there was a co-working club that opened up in Midtown, we weren’t very excited. The question nowadays when something cool opens up is whether it’s a private club. But then the buzz started, and they are hosting some of the most exclusive gatherings of the smartest people in the city. This is a look at Colette, a new private club in NYC.
Overview
We have so many new private clubs in NYC, that we’re almost unaffected by the new places that are popping up left and right. So when Colette opened at the end of 2023, we didn’t blink much. Right down the street from Core Club and Aman New York, as well as a slew of old school clubs like the University Club, we thought it was just another fad. Well, we’re here to admit that we may have been wrong. This new club in NYC is worth a look, and even an attempt to join their ranks.
What makes Colette unique is that it is a work space first. Before Billionaires Row and the new Hudson Yards, there was GM Building. This building was the OG as far as real estate goes in New York City. Located on Fifth Avenue and 59th Street, it’s still one of the most iconic buildings in New York City, and prime office location. Which brings us back to the foundation of Colette as a very upscale WeWork, though sans frenetic founder and much less drama. Edmond Safra is behind the venture, and instead what you have is a serene work space where you can set up your company amongst other successful entrepreneurs.
There is also a dining club run by restauranteur Juan Santa Cruz open for lunch and dinner. It’s actually the private events at the restaurant that caught our eye, as friends from that school in Boston hosted a think tank event over the holidays. The food doesn’t rest on its laurels either, and is a place that you want to entertain your business contacts and friends.
How to Join
They’ve capped membership at around 300 people initially at this new private club in NYC. Initiation when you make it past the admissions committee is $125,000 to buy in, and around $36,000 in dues. So you know the businesses setting up in Colette are the real deal, and not just trying to make it like in a former WeWork. Inquire about membership at Colette at [email protected].
