There’s never been a better time to nip across the border for a weekend in Canada. Thanks to the weak Canadian Dollar (1 USD = 0.69 CAD at the time of writing), you can indulge in a luxury stay and pay 30 percent less than you would at home. And there are few better places to enjoy this discount than at The HighAcre, a quaint and oh-so-chic inn located in Ontario.

Overview

The HighAcre, located less than 1.5 hours from the US-Canada border, is a restored, red-brick farmhouse dating back from 1867. Open as a high-end inn since March 2023, The HighAcre is the furthest thing from a blingy luxury hotel. You won’t find flashy colors or sparkling chandeliers anywhere here. Instead, The HighAcre mixes historical features with discreet and high-quality swanky amenities. The aim is to provide travelers with a charming and exceedingly comfortable place to retreat.

Accommodation

The HighAcre is on the small side: it only houses four suites. But that doesn’t mean it’s lacking in any way. While the suites vary in size, all of them are furnished with a king-size bed and equipped with a full kitchen and a fireplace. And there’s more. Each suite has its own private ensuite spa. That means that you’ll have your personal infrared sauna, hammam steam shower, and full-size freestanding tub for long, hot baths, or quick, cold plunges – you do you. And if that doesn’t sound relaxing enough, hear this: The HighAcre is a children-free property. Now, that’s how you truly unwind.

Amenities

Beyond the private ensuite spas, you can take advantage of the outdoor pool and hot tub, located on the beautiful wooded property. For a wellness-focused stay, take part in the on-site yoga, meditation, and breathwork classes.

Food + Drinks

There’s no restaurant at the inn, but breakfast is included, and features fresh croissants, farm-fresh eggs, tea and coffee, and more. Also, because each suite has its own kitchen, you can make your own meals if you prefer to stay cocooned at the inn rather than go out for food.
