Fogo Island

Location: Newfoundland, Canada

At Fogo Island Inn, environmentalism is a driving force in addition to hospitality. The oceanside location gives you the chance to connect with nature, undisturbed. What makes Fogo so unique is the emphasis on appreciating and protecting the ocean. Although it is extremely secluded, the hotel makes it relatively easy to get there. The simplest way to access the island is by flying to Gander, Newfoundland. Once you’ve landed, the hotel will send a charter plane or boat to pick you up.

Jack’s Camp

Location: Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, Botswana

Jack’s Camp is known for its breathtaking views. The hotel is located in rural Botswana and is almost devoid of all noise. Although this is to be expected from one of the most remote hotels in the world, Jack’s Camp takes it to another level. During the dry season, the hotel is surrounded by desert. In the wet season, grass covers every inch of the land. In order to get to Jack’s Camp, you must first travel to Maun, Botswana. From there, you can take a bush flight straight to Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.

Sheldon Chalet

Location: Matanuska-Susitna, Alaska

Sheldon Chalet is located in Denali National Park. The hotel’s main focus is to bring luxury to a land where previous visitors had to rough it. At Sheldon Chalet, guests can look forward to outdoor activities like mountaineering and glacier exploration. There is no noise and zero distractions for guests due to the hotel’s incredibly secluded location. It is only accessible by plane, as there are no roads within miles of it.

Deplar Farm

Deplar Farm is located in an extremely rural region of Iceland, where sheep outnumber humans. The hotel is especially unique because it gives you the chance to lounge in the pool while marveling at the Northern Lights. This, in addition to the variety of activities available, makes Deplar Farm an excellent winter destination. To access Deplar Farm, you must fly to Keflavik. From there, you can drive or fly straight to the hotel.

Three Chimneys

Location: Isle of Skye, Scotland

The Three Chimneys is notable not only for its stunning location in Scotland, but also for its restaurant. People come from as far as Japan to dine at the Three Chimneys, but not everyone knows there is also a simple inn you can stay at as well. Although the hotel is secluded, it is still within reasonable distance from attractions like Dunvegan Castle and Talisker Distillery. Nature lovers will appreciate the many outdoor sights and activities available near the hotel. Kilt Rock, Neist Point, and the Fairy Pools are all easily accessible to guests. The simplest way to get to The Three Chimneys is by arriving at Kyle of Lochalsh train station and then traveling by car.
