Juvet: The Hotel in Succession

We know that the countdown begins to the last episode of Succession. Besides the acting, which is top-notch on Succession, the lavish settings too are like characters on the show. As this last season unfolds, the locations of Succession inspire us to all get on an airplane. A private jet preferably of course, to go full-Succession style. However, in absence of the plane, you can still travel like the Roys. The hotel in Succession of the moment is the Juvet Landscape Hotel in Norway. This is the inside scoop.

The Location

The slogan of  Juvet Landskapshotell, otherwise known as the Hotel from Succession, is “Leave the World Behind.” That’s pretty much what happens when you venture to the remote location of Juvet. The best way to arrive is via Oslo to the town of Alesund. From there, you’re an hour and a half away from Juvet, and in for a scenic drive. Along the way you’ll pass the UNESCO World Heritage site Geirangerfjord and the viewing point at Trollstigen. This doesn’t mean anything to you right now, until you get there and see what the hotel in Succession is all about: nature.

The Hotel

Juvet has been around since 2010 and is surrounded by mountains and a large river. There are 24 rooms, which include a Writer’s Lodge as well as Bird Houses, that are exactly what they sound like. The minimalist hotel plays into the whole nature theme in its design, as well as the stunning views. As the hotel from Succession, the high-maintenance characters were a little too close to nature, but in reality, it’s the whole point of Juvet.

You’re not going to eat offsite, so the hotel has a 100-year old restored farm building that is the restaurant. With its remote location, they leverage off the local ingredients and play into the whole organic, natural theme of the hotel. The breakfast fuels you for the active pursuits. They’re not really open for lunch, as you eat while on your excursions outside of the hotel.

For dinner though, it’s family style at a communal table. Everyone has hiked, biked, rafted, rappelled and done every extreme sport by that point, so the meals are hearty. For the hotel in Succession, that table is the perfect place to plot world domination and engage in heated debate with your siblings.

The Cost of the Hotel in Succession

Unlike the pretty penny that it takes to support the Roy lifestyle, the cost of the hotel in Succession won’t break any banks. (Or at least those who are into luxury travel accommodations). The cost of the hotel in Succession is around $400 – $800 nightly. So it’s an attainable luxury, and one where you really get up close and personal with nature.
