New York is the rare place where celebs can generally exist on the DL, or at least relatively live a normal life albeit a papp or two. It’s the one place where sitting next to Jay-Z on the subway is not a big deal (seriously, ask the lady who didn’t know he was next to her). So, this is the shoutout to our favorite celeb New Yorkers and their NYC haunts where sometimes, they are just like us.
The Celeb(s): Sara Jessica Parker + Andy Cohen
The Neighborhood: West Village
The Favorite Spot: Don Angie
Overview
It’s only fitting that one of New York’s most iconic celebs frequents one of its buzziest restaurants. Personally, we’re a little sad we never got to see Carrie and the girls chatting over this spot’s legendary lasagna at least once. But SJP’s real-life love for Don Angie makes up for it. Add in the fact that it’s one of Andy Cohen’s haunts, and you have yourself a dream people-watching date. The food here, as you may have already heard, is equal parts fun and classic. It’s elevated Italian that’s best for sharing, with its large portions and accessible menu. And if there’s one West Village spot where you’re bound to see a celeb New Yorker, it’s this one.
The Celeb: Bradley Cooper
The Neighborhood: West Village
The Favorite Spot: Little Owl
Overview
Little Owl might as well be a celeb New Yorker all on its own. Housed in the building once used as the infamous apartment from Friends, you’ll see countless tourists stand outside for a picture of “Central Perk”. What those tourists don’t know is that if they were to walk inside, they might get an even better sighting. West Village resident Bradley Cooper is known to frequent the spot, among other celebs like Friends’ own David Schwimmer. Little Owl, ironically, has nothing to do with the famed TV show, besides accidentally renting the location without knowing its legacy. Despite what roaming fans might think, it’s a simple, neighborhood joint, which is probably exactly why celebs like it so much. The menu is mostly comfort-American, with some Italian influences.
The Celeb: Tina Fey
The Neighborhood: Upper West Side
The Favorite Spot: Red Farm
Overview
Tina Fey bought her second Upper West Side apartment in 2016. Located right above the one she’d lived in since 2009, Fey’s since combined the two units. So, it’s safe to say she’s a fan of the neighborhood. We’d feel the same way if we lived three blocks from Red Farm. It’s the perfect neighborhood spot for a cozy, creative dim sum. This is yet another UWS joint known for its A-lister appeal, so even though it’s casual, expect to see and be seen.
