Galavante’s Celebrity Contributor Hilary Sheinbaum represented us at Fashion Week, and she interviewed the most important person of all: Ferm Mallis. Who is Fern Mallis and why is she so important to New York Fashion Week? Well, Fern Mallis is the Founder of New York Fashion Week. Her forum for the top in the fashion world in New York to gather together twice yearly has made many a career.
Galavante: What are your favorite things to do in New York?
Fern Mallis: My favorite things to do in New York – go to the theatre, go to a great restaurant, spend time quietly at home sometimes, which is a real treat for me in New York.
Galavante: Is that your ideal Saturday?
Fern Mallis: No, my ideal Saturday is actually in Southampton. I get away every weekend. So, I actually miss those weekend jaunts in the city, but having a house in the country takes priority. I like going to the museums: not as often as I think I do, but I live very close to Central Park and I don’t get into it as often as I’d like to. What else do I love doing in New York? You know, I’m a walker, I live in the Upper East Side and I just love walking around. There’s just a fabulous energy in New York. Oh, and I love shopping. How could I have forgotten shopping? It’s the best thing to do in New York.
Galavante: What trends are you most looking forward to?
Fern Mallis: I’m not sure what the trends are yet. I’m going to try and figure that out another day or two.
