The Mark is just crushing it when it comes to staying relevant. They could rest on their laurels and dial it in. After all, they are the center of the Met Gala every May, where it’s A-List only. Jean-Georges Vongerichten is the chef in residence and serves up his truffle pizza all year round. With the addition of Caviar Kaspia, the hotel was complete. Simply put, The Mark could just sit there and look pretty but instead, they have continued to innovate. Case in point: The Mark Sailboat.
The iconic five-star luxury hotel is once again hitting the Hudson with a fine dining experience on their one-of-a-kind 70-foot Herreshoff sailboat. Of course, menus will be curated by in-house experts, The Mark’s own JG and Caviar Kaspia. Here’s what you need to know about this nautical novelty.
The Route
The custom sailboat can fit up to 25 guests and includes a captain, crew, and servers. The 2-hour long voyage starts at Tribeca’s North Cove Marina and sails southward towards the Statue of Liberty. In other words, you get a prime sunset view of Manhattan. Glass of champagne and gourmet canapés included.
Food + Wine Experience
While on deck, it will be like The Mark restaurant on the water, and you know that JG will bring it on the food. What follows is a seafood-heavy menu with canapés like lobster rolls, crispy sea trout, and chilled oysters.
There will be one special Caviar Kaspia evening offered by The Mark Sailboat. As you can guess, the champagne toast is switched out for chilled vodka and caviar. There will also be a canapé menu that includes items like caviar baked potatoes, blinis, and tuna tartare. Both carefully crafted menus are accompanied by a sommelier selection of wines. If you can’t make it to the Mediterranean this summer, sailing down the Hudson with a chilled glass of rosé might be the next best thing.
Tickets
The Mark Sailboat kicked off on May 24th and will run till the end of July. You can either purchase a ticket for the Jean-Georges or Caviar Kaspia experience. Alternatively, if you’re feeling flush, you can privately charter the boat for a plus one or plus 24 of your BFFs. But hurry, three of the Jean-Georges experiences are already sold out; it’s that good.
The August dates are as follows:
Friday, August 2nd
Friday, August 9th
Saturday, August 17th
A seat aboard The Mark sailboat is $575. Which in today’s fine dining terms, is almost the cost of dinner for two at a typical Jean-Georges restaurant. If you’re interested in a private charter, you can expect prices to start at around $7,000 for two guests and about $395 for each additional.
