Shou Sugi Ban House

If the pandemic showed us anything, it’s that any time is a good time to be in the Hamptons. Shou Sugi, the wellness center, has opened a new bed and breakfast in the former White Fences space. It’s prime for fall leaf-peeping in the Hamptons. Or bring the whole family to stay in the two separate residences that are part of the inn.

Shou Sugi Ban House

If you’ve ever been to the Hamptons, you’ve heard of Shou Sugi Ban House. The wellness retreat is one of the most coveted lodging spaces in the area, which is saying something considering it opened just two years ago and, well, it is the Hamptons. The Shou Sugi appeal is, of course, the dreamy Japanese-inspired spa treatments and immersive wellness experiences. Its new inn and two residences will feature the same serene, spiritual vibe, but in an à la carte fashion. The new site will enable families and groups to indulge in the more quintessential Hamptons experiences. With the upscale beach town nearby, guests can plan to visit wineries and beaches and to barbecue in the back lawn. But in the afternoon, they’ll be pampered by the best masseuses and body workers there are.

The Inn

The inn, formerly White Fences, retains the minimal East-meets-West design. Light colors and simple furnishings stand out against the Sakura gardens and intimate patio. With just five rooms, the inn has a bed-and-breakfast feel that reflects the most commonly desired Hamptons experience. Guests at the inn have access to the main house and its beautiful, wellness-inspired food by a Michelin-starred chef, though reservations are required.

The Residences

The new accommodations cater to the crowds that weren’t satisfied with only the original 13 suites. The two residences are both large enough to bring the whole crew, one has five bedrooms and the other seven. And they are super nice. Both have full kitchens, fireplaces, and cozy nooks and corners. The first is flanked by a 20×40-foot pool and tennis courts, and the second has a patio and garden. As they’re located between the inn and the original house, so they connect the whole property seamlessly.

What was a small oasis is now an entire property shrouded in lush greenery and a warm, inviting sense of calm. And as the residences come fully equipped with a private chef and A-list certified security, you can bring your celebrity friends and they will be very happy.
